February update just broke. It keeps saying it can’t find SmartSound Quicktracks Plugin. It says…”The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable”
Any ideas? It worked fine a couple days ago , before the update.

1. How often do “full” releases come out? I know updates are monthly, but what about “full” releases? I wish this was clearly addressed in the FAQ. (I’m afraid that AutoPatcher Full is only released one per year or quartly to incourage the use of updates.)
2. How do I know what is the lastest “full” release? I sure wish the home page would clearly state the latest “full” release.
3. Are Windows 95/98/Me supported? The statement that AutoPatcher will run on any Windows implies that they are supported but I’m not so sure by the 2000 and Xp titles. Please clearly state which OS’s are supported in the FAQ.
4. The note that AutoPatcher is designed for Sp2 is confussing. Will AutoPatcher Xp update a non-service pack OS to Sp2 or do I need an earlier version of AutoPatcher to install Sp2? This is important for computers I wipe and restore to factory condition that do not have any service packs on the restore image.
5. I wish AutoPatcher provided links to full downloads that are not torrent. Torrent has a reputation for pirated software so I don’t want it in the business and for security reasons.
Please forgive me if my questions are answered on the forum. I generally rely on manuals and FAQ for generic information and only use forum for special problems.

1. Short answer: As frequently as needed. Big changes usually call for a Full (e.g. the inclusion of IE7 or WMP11 or the switch to AP 5.6).
2. The downloads page should answer this one… just look for the latest Full.
3. Short answer: No. NT family operating systems only.
4. Each release targets a specific operating system, simply because Microsoft’s own patches are not independent of the version or language. The patches that apply to XP are different than the ones for 2000. That’s why we pack a release for each operating system. We *could* put them all in one, but the download size would be huge. If you download an XP release, and run it on 2000, chances are that very few, if any, items will be shown. The program however *will* show you the items which are compatible with your OS. As for the SP2 question, the answer is, that AutoPatcher requires the latest non-beta service pack available for the operating system. For XP that would mean SP2. If you run AutoPatcher on a XPSP1 system, it *will* load, but only show the items which are compatible with it (since some SP2 fixes are applicable to SP1 too).
5. Check the downloads page. There are many direct links too.

What is the AutoPatcher solution to restoring a system that does not have a service pack installed from the factory?
There is a real need for “Full” update service. I very frequently wipe hard drives and do a 5-year-old factory restore but many of my clients do not have the Internet or use dial-up.
Where are the old AutoPatcher versions that will upgrade a restored Xp system to Sp2 so I can use the current AutoPatcher that requires Sp2?
Is there any non-AutoPatcher program available that will update a system, including service patches, if AutoPatcher cannot do the job?

You can download the “Windows XP Service Pack 2 Network Installation Package for IT Professionals and Developers” (266 MB) and burn it on a CD with AutoPatcher. Then you restore to factory defaults, install SP2 and after, install AutoPatcher.

Onde acho o AutoPatcher para Windows 2000 em português do Brasil????
March 16th, 2007 at 6:19 pm
@ ACCF: There is no AutoPatcher 2000 in Portuguese from Brazil (and Microsoft has discontinued Windows 2000 support).
March 18th, 2007 at 11:49 am
Sim, mas existe pra português de portugal. E que eu saiba o suporte de segurança e correçoes do 2000 só acaba em 2010, não é isso?
Como faço um AutoPatcher pro Windows 2000 pt-br ??

On June 30, 2005, the Windows 2000 product family enters the Extended Support phase, which continues for at least 5 years through [[[[[[June 2010.]]]]]]
•
Microsoft offers a minimum of 10 years’ support (5 years Mainstream plus 5 years Extended) for business and developer products. The Microsoft support life-cycle policy provides predictable coverage of Microsoft products and continues to set the standard for product support policies industry-wide.
•
[[[[Microsoft is not ending support for Windows 2000]]]]. During the Extended Support phase, Microsoft continues to provide security hot fixes and paid support but no longer provides complimentary support options, design change requests, and non-security hotfixes.*

I think that right now “Extended Support phase” for Windows 2000 means that you have to pay Microsoft so that they can give you support.
March 20th, 2007 at 10:14 am
Please, reads this
[[[continues to provide security hot fixes]]]
That is most important, right?
