AutoPatcher’s May 2007 Releases
Posted by Renato Ribeiro on May 10th, 2007 |
For the time being, only AutoPatcher Vista and AutoPatcher XP/2003 x64 are released.
In the next days, Blaze will release AutoPatcher 2000, 2003 and XP, so please just wait a little bit longer. :)
Please check the respective pages for the details.
Edit: See the look of the new install script created by Blaze that will be used in AutoPatcher XP, 2000 and 2003:
Thanks.

Awesome! Thanks a lot guys!
May 10th, 2007 at 12:43 pm
ala Homer Simpson: “Woo-hoo!”
May 10th, 2007 at 12:44 pm
If anybody complains remember that you’ve made something that people care enough about to complain.
Thanks very much for all your work.
May 10th, 2007 at 1:47 pm
Just … a … little … longer …
May 10th, 2007 at 1:47 pm
Thanx man….
i jus hope my wait for XP autopatch is not very long…
Thanx once again…
May 10th, 2007 at 2:15 pm
It won’t take long believe me. Blaze is just working in the last things. And we will have a new install script (created by Blaze) with a new look, so, please wait a bit more.
May 10th, 2007 at 2:24 pm
Oh man… Oh man… Oh man… Oh man…
Thanks for your hard work guys!
May 10th, 2007 at 2:30 pm
Thank you Autopatcher team!!!!
I can and will wait for XP&2000
May 10th, 2007 at 2:41 pm
New installer looks sweet! You guys are awesome!
Autopatcher team ‘08!
May 10th, 2007 at 2:59 pm
I can almost taste it!!!
May 10th, 2007 at 3:14 pm
There’s a sentence i like the most. No need for reboot!!!
The new instaler looks great!!
May 10th, 2007 at 4:19 pm
So, does this require the most recent things?
May 10th, 2007 at 4:29 pm
“In the next days” !!!!
I’m starting to quiver!
I’m sure you made us all wait just to build the suspense, and it worked.
Can’t wait; I’ll check every couple of hours now, instead of every 2.5 Hours.

“For the time being, only AutoPatcher Vista and AutoPatcher XP/2003 x64 are released. In the next days, Blaze will release AutoPatcher 2000, 2003 and XP, so please just wait a little bit longer. :) “
I’m new to this, and having a hard time understanding what the above means. Does it mean to say that the normal XP (32-bit) version will be released later, after Vista + XP64?
That seems a bit odd, considering XP32 is so widespread. Thought I’d inquire more directly. =) Thanks.
May 10th, 2007 at 4:42 pm
Jay: instead of the widespread use of the OS, think of the amount of work necessary for the update: i’m guessing since Vista and XP x64 have significantly fewer patches than XP, it means they were probably simpler to finish off.
even then, i mean, a few days isn’t a big deal, right? if you drink enough, a few days will disappear instantly! jkjkjk
May 10th, 2007 at 5:12 pm
There is no torrent for XP/2003 x64. That or there’s something wrong with my eyes.
May 10th, 2007 at 6:09 pm
Vista and x64 releases we done so quickly (note that there were also March and April versions) because:
1. They have fewer patches
2. Renato was the first to adopt AutoPatcher 5.6.
AutoPatcher for Windows 2000, XP and 2003 Server are prepared by Lyndon, a.k.a. Blaze. Since these releases are a lot more popular, we decided it would be best to take our time to make sure they are as close to perfect as possible.
May 10th, 2007 at 6:28 pm
I was a Alpha, Beta, RC, whatever tester, so i was over what was being done (and I also had more free time). I was building my versions (Vista, x64, PTG) during a long period of testes, before it was even released.
As raptor said, compare the number of patches of Vista and x64 with 2000, 2003 and XP:
And Blaze is doing many more things, and also the install script. He’s doing a real good job, you’ll see. :)
May 10th, 2007 at 6:56 pm
When is the XP 32bit coming out! ,,,
May 10th, 2007 at 7:24 pm
U GUYZ ROCKS
juz one question … does d release for d XP/2000 comes in full or in an ugrade (or both)
May 10th, 2007 at 7:25 pm
eiste megaloi !!!
May 10th, 2007 at 7:36 pm
This month there will only Full releases, since this new AutoPatcher is really new in many things.
May 10th, 2007 at 7:38 pm
Wow that looks so good, can’t wait until it’s out. Appreciate all the work you guys have done! :D
Thanks, Eddie.
May 10th, 2007 at 8:10 pm
Full release Renato! That’s awesome! :D
Like I have said before, I’m one of the fans of the Full version. High bandwidth and download time won’t be an issue since we can opt the bittorrent path. Now I can go out and buy that 250Gigs HD that I have been planning to buy since March to install a fresh XP on my old PC again.
Anyway thanx the team for the good news. I’m waiting to download now. LONG LIVE THE AUTOPATCHER TEAM and bye! ^^
May 10th, 2007 at 8:54 pm
Thanks for you guys’ hard work!!!

how to autopatcher
May 10th, 2007 at 11:43 pm
Apparently you have a big group of supportive fans.
Would be interesting to see the hit rate statistics on your websites.
Good job guys, dying to see the all new A/P XP. How is the A/P Office 2K3 coming along?
May 11th, 2007 at 12:18 am
If you patch more than 5 XP’s, you will realise how fantastic Autopatcher is, because no reboots also trying to figure out what to patch.
Microsoft only patch critical goodies, but not extra stuff you need.
May 11th, 2007 at 1:05 am
Thank you for all your hard work folks! It is VERY much appreciated! Autopatcher has saved me SO many headaches, especially given the slow speeds I get off of MS Update (no faster than 50k/sec….and I top out at a little over THREE TIMES that! :)
May 11th, 2007 at 1:05 am
Thnx man.. Cool work…I really appreciate for the valuable time that u gave for completing it.
Thanx again..
I hope that AP for XP to be out soon.. :)

Don’t let those who’ve whinged on this site put you off - the vast majority of us think you’re the greatest! Well done fr sticking with it and for resolving what I can only assume were real headache-inducing problems!
May 11th, 2007 at 4:11 am
Dusktilldawn, the XP release will cover Home/Pro. Lyndon will be releasing an addon for MCE I think.

Win 2003 SP2 has come out. is it a mandatory requirement for the new AutoPatcher Win 2003 release?
May 14th, 2007 at 6:09 am
I hope i can download this amazing pack asap! ^^
May 14th, 2007 at 8:37 am
@vinoth
Amazingly, your comments do nothing in congratulating the AutoPatcher, asking a question, or succesfully constructing a word. So please go away.
May 14th, 2007 at 9:13 am
Hope XP x86 comes out by this weekend. Or else, I’ll have to do the hard way:( Working on some deadlines!
May 14th, 2007 at 4:59 pm
Renato you are my hero! The greatest man of Autopatcher team!!!
Full release and 5.6 core… WOWOW!
May 14th, 2007 at 7:47 pm
^ Thanks, but the credits belong to Antonis/raptor. :) He did by himself all the hard work of coding. Our job is to make the releases (and make sure that things work) and make some suggestions to Antonis to improve a little bit more the program.
I’m glad you and many others liked it!
May 14th, 2007 at 8:59 pm
This is perty cool. A patcher that gets around microscum,… oops.. did I say something bad?
In a few days? MAN… You guys… take your time and do it the best you know how… You are the greatest heros of all time…. you do know that?? ummm…well,.. if you don’t … word is… that’s ok, too.

its similar to autopatcher, except less flexible
May 18th, 2007 at 7:43 am
Rolph, comments like yours don’t deserve a reply of any kind. I am going to answer, however, in the most civilized manner I can.
Why do you even bother? It’s clear to me that you’re a guy that expects his meal cooked to perfection and served for free too. I have always said that people who do not understand or appreciate what AutoPatcher is, are better off with Microsoft’s WindowsUpdate.
So please, enlighten me. Why bother writing up all that? Why all the sarcasm?
Did we ever say we are professionals? Maybe you think we are 40 year old dudes with no life, no expectations, employed by some company so we can release AutoPatcher each and every month?
Releasing guides so nobody notices AutoPatcher XP is not released? Please, that was very childish. We do not think like that around here.
How old *are* you anyway? Because I feel like replying to a 6 year old.
May 18th, 2007 at 8:57 am
I would like to say that I love AP. The whole team has done something great with this program and I appreciate your hard work. You have helped many people whom you will never meet and saved them a great deal of time.
Don’t let criticism and impatience taint your view of the public which enjoys this program. Those few are the same jerks you will encounter anywhere in life and it’s no reflection on your user/fan base.
You must understand that waiting for the release is like waiting for your wife or girlfriend to give it to you. And then she says “well, sorry honey but I will give it to you next month” and then “babe, you know I’m just not ready so maybe next month”, and then “oh baby i swear next month I will give it to you and it will be good, I promise”. And off the record I am looking forward to AP 5.6 way more than boinking the misses. : D
May 18th, 2007 at 11:38 am
Am waiting for new autopatcher XP–hope it is coming soon, I need to reload windows and having autopatcher just makes it so much easier to update than using windows update site. My thks to autopatcher team for their awesome work . . .
May 19th, 2007 at 1:56 am
Hey guys, please try and beat the Windows Update June MS release. M$t is now releasing too many and too fast.
Keep up the good work!
When good food is being cooked, the aroma always makes me hungry :)
May 19th, 2007 at 3:15 am
Many thanks for saving us endless hours of tedium.
May 19th, 2007 at 4:19 pm
Antonis, I realize that you have a life outside of AutoPatcher.
You took the time to respond to a complaint above, and I was curious if you had the time to perhaps post an update of your progress. In the progress thread, there hasn’t been an update from you in five or six days. The AP team keeps saying that the XP x86 version is coming soon. If it isn’t coming for another month or two could you just say so?
May 19th, 2007 at 6:09 pm
@Jethro, now that i’ve decided upon a solution to the things thats been holding me up i may be able to finish off the new install script and have the releases done in perhaps just a few days, but i don;t want to get peoples hopes up. i’m still really confident they will be released before the end of the month though.
May 20th, 2007 at 12:57 am
I have an system based on 64 , but my sp2 win is at 32 bits, when is ready version May for 32 ?

May 20th, 2007 at 4:00 pm
Waiting patiently for the XP May release - Keep up the good work.
May 21st, 2007 at 4:40 am
Jethro, my ‘job’ is coding. I don’t actually do releases myself. Team members (who make the releases) ask for features/changes to be added/fixed in the program and I do.
My progress doesn’t really matter at this point, as it’s on a fix-by-request basis.
May 21st, 2007 at 8:38 am
When will AP XP x86 be released I am eagerly waiting for this……. Wil it be a AP June full
May 21st, 2007 at 11:23 am
Is there any chance the x86 version of the May release will be available in May?
May 21st, 2007 at 12:31 pm
Wheres the link? i cant download :(
May 21st, 2007 at 3:34 pm
Hey guys, I want to say that Auto Patcher is a fantastic program and you have done great work. I have been using it for nearly one year and I appreciate it very much.
I am excited about v5.6 and looking forward to the release. However, I am concerned, I don’t want you to burn out in trying to finish it by any certain time.
I also hope that you aren’t discouraged by all the impatient posters and rude comments. Please take your time and relax.
Perhaps you should make this a June release. Then people may stop posting with their impatient demands and you can relieve yourself from the burden of getting it finished in such a rush.
As someone with no programming knowledge, I couldn’t begin to comprehend how complex this whole process could be, but I would imagine it is highly stressful.
I want to say thank you very much for your hard work, patience, and excellent software.

Have you tried looking elsewhere.
Have you tried writing your own.
p.s. Are you a paying Subscriber.
If no to any of the above, be like the rest of us and be pleased these guys are investing their free time to make a great timesaving program. You guys need to learn patience.
May 22nd, 2007 at 10:20 am
Right On, Bro!
Patience is a virtue. Take your time. Take the time you need. All who don’t have the time should do the micro-thing… ching.. ching..ching….

May 22nd, 2007 at 3:11 pm
You don’t know how much money your software you have saved to my business…make a year subscription and send dvd’s every time you release them, this way i don’t need to check the web site. If you do a year subscription I’m in.
May 22nd, 2007 at 4:26 pm
I’d pay in advance yearly as well
Sign me up too
May 23rd, 2007 at 8:43 am
follow my lead guy, be patient, it pays off :)
May 23rd, 2007 at 11:11 pm
seems I’ve been checking this page almost daily since I found this site, … and the writing about how people are waiting so painfully… oh.. gimme a break! but then there are the stable souls who tell the impatient ones to back off… cool… coool… all which however, leads to another day of not really knowing if XP 32-bit has actually been released yet, or not… ummmmm…. is there a chance I should be checking a different page? Anybody??????
May 23rd, 2007 at 11:38 pm
Hey guys, new look of AutoPAtcher is awesome, but what about the AutoPatcher XP updates?I didnt got any updates of XP after FEBRUARY,and its MAY now, where are the Remaining updates from march onwards?
May 24th, 2007 at 3:13 am
Any word on when autopatcher xp will be released?
May 24th, 2007 at 3:22 am
@ rsrcomp
If we didn’t want the AP software, they wouldn’t write it. Coz we do means we moan when it’s delayed. They love all the fuss. Makes them fell like heroes, like they make a difference.
What bugs people is that it’s released for some OS and not all…
My beef is the fact they say a couple of days, and mean a couple of weeks… Therefore time management blows…
May 24th, 2007 at 6:57 am
Well, 2 weeks after the x64 releases and still no x86 releases.. This is the longest “Few days” I’ve seen..
May 24th, 2007 at 8:19 am
@everyone complaining
well yes maybe my time management does blow, or perhaps the long delays are because of the following factors: 1) this is not my full time job although it does seem like it 2) i’m the only person working on the things that are delaying it 3) there have been a lot of unprecedented hold ups, 4) i’ve never had to do anything like this before.
i originally estimated that it would take two weeks to get all the modules converted to the new format and that i would have it done by the end of march. who knew that it would take a hell of a lot longer. who new that i would realise that we needed an improved installation script. who knew that i would end up having to completely re-write it.
if i could have possibly known how long things were going to take i would have continued making releases based on ap 5.1 while working on the ap 5.6 releases in the background. unfortunately i had no idea this would happen.
however i have been working as hard as i can to bring you the best release i can possibly make, with absolutely no cost to yourselves. someone earlier (perhaps in another blog post) commented on the fact that we’re getting donations, well rest assured that whats been received barely covers a fraction of what we put into it (not to sound ungrateful, i don’t do this for the money and i’m very grateful to those who donate whatever amount).
i promise you, no more delays, i have one more feature to work out with the script and then i’m done. it will be complete by or around this weekend!
if you want reasons why the x64 and vista releases are already out and have been for a while: 1) gandolas did those not me, he started a while before me and did some beta testing whereas i didn’t and had to learn how to use the new format 2) x64 and vista release collectively have only 75 modules (apr07 releases), collectively mine have 629 modules 3) i’m also having to do things like completely re-writing our install script. 4) gandolas only releases full releases not update releases so a hacked copy of the previous script works fine for him, he didn’t need to wait for the new copy.
May 24th, 2007 at 8:59 am
Thanks for the update. Perhaps a front page update would also help limit the complainers, instead of buried under 100 comments of an old post.
Thank you for all the work you are doing, but if your having that many problems with it perhaps its time to get people to help you out. I’m sure there are many people who would be willing to help you out and get the next ver. out faster.
May 24th, 2007 at 4:12 pm
Thank a lot guys !!!

@Lyndon Brown
You love it… all the hype. If it were your full time job, you’d be a lot more on top of things. If, in your full time job, your management of time and deadlines was this bad you would be fired.
You should have worked on the 5.6 release in the background anyway, and not abandon the 5.1 platform altogether.
You knew people would react this way. It is fuel for your motivation. You all get fed up with the mundane, same old releases, and petty “thanks” in the forum. But, you break it all for a bit, and see how people get needy. Makes you feel like you are doing things for a good cause. Re-motivates you.
Yes I am here to bug and nag you, but it’s all banter. You and I, and everyone else, know if you didn’t want to do it, you wouldn’t. And if you needed help, you’d ask and get it too.
To all the lovers and the haters, soon come. And bring pie… I know kung-foo…
May 25th, 2007 at 10:11 am
This sucks! The autopatcher for XP 86 will never be launched. It’s ‘almoust ready’ for weeks now…
May 25th, 2007 at 10:08 pm
Cilit you’re crossing the line … I know ka-chuk
May 25th, 2007 at 10:43 pm
@Cilit Bang and others
Have you even worked on a real project as a real job.
I have , and I have managed them also.
As I said before, PM is no substitute for brains and accomplishments.
Send a legally purchased copy of M$ project enterprise to each of the kids as your personal appreciation gift.
Then bask in the new project management capabilities they can now employ.
You obviously don’t know the real world statistics for project deliverables.
I have my pie chart, but its not handy now.
If I recall correctly over 90 percent of big dollar projects for the US government never get completed as per requirements.
Most are DOA.
In the commercial world with high paid Ivy League caliber employees M$ doesn’t seem to deliver any thing on time as it keeps resetting the date - O we will ship it when its done - (i.e., when the crap is good enough).
Why not spend your time and energy consulting for M$icrosoft, talk to them about their slipped schedules - years not months.
Explain how they need project management and should fire all their employees because they can’t get any product out on time.
Then ask them when SP3 for XP will be deployed, isn’t that what you are really waiting for - not some kid developed hobby product like AP.
WHY WAIT - M$ love U.
LEAVE THEM KIDS ALONE!!!!!!!!!!!
BR
May 25th, 2007 at 10:49 pm
@Lyndon Brown
If you added a link on AutoPatcher (this is meant retorically) that said “Click here if you would like to thank Lyndon Brown”
You would receive 1000X thank-you responses, so don’t be concerned about the overall 0.1 % negatives here.
Give me an L, a Y (OK a point made!)
Kim
May 25th, 2007 at 10:59 pm
@Cilit Bang and others
FORGOT TO ADD—
As I said before - If you want AP now go out an buy XP64 or VIsta - Vista is the best M$ can give you - AP is available for VISTA and XP64 now.
But AP was developed as a hobby so you might want to wait for the commercial fixes from M$.
There is M$ update - commercially developed software done on some schedule somewhere - use it to get your XP update NOW - why wait.
Who knows what hobby software will do to your computer - aren’t you scared your computer might crash.
M$ has some neat white papers on Vista showing how great it is.
WHY are you waiting when you can get it now.
Vista was only a few years late - but M$ says its done - AND ITS GREAT.
WHY WAIT - the future is here now and its vista.
:)P

May 27th, 2007 at 1:55 pm
@Bodham,
I have no idea what you are rambling on about or why you felt you had to share it with me and others…
I use all OS’s at some point. IMO Vista is not the Holy Grail, merely the latest thing, and it’s not suitable for all. I am not “moaning” about the delays for selfish reasons, just making the point that you have to expect people to react in this way. I am realistic and understand all the moaning in the world won’t speed up the release.
No-one can tell me that the if a contracted project was managed in this way, and it’s “customers” delayed it wouldn’t be pulled.
That is what I am saying, and it’s what I have said. No need to over analyse my comments and assume they are moans directed at the AP developers.
My original comment was/is merely an observation of fact…
And it still stands, AP XP x86 released over the weekend looks also unlikely, further delays imminent…

Your program is well worth the wait! I want to thank you for all the hours you have saved me. I own a small computer repair shop, and use you program on every computer i have to reload. My customers also appreciate the fact that when they get their computer home, MS is not invading their time while they are trying to put their personal things back. I will continue to check daily for the new release!! Thanks again!

@Cilit Bang and etc.
I had to share it because I am a professional and I care about how others are treated, and I wanted to shed some light on what goes on in the real world on real projects.
And I provided some examples to show that commercial does not mean on-time and perfect software with infinite features for a great price.
What I am saying is M$ develops commercial products, they use project management, they are years late delivering products, no one gets fired, M$ does not pull their products because they are late (some times they remove lots of features to make the slipped deadline though). SORRY - they have pulled some projects (not products) because they never could deliver them on time.
M$ is a commercial company that sells their software commercially.
AP which is free and developed by kids, is not commercial, is not years late, has not been pulled, and I would argue is much better than M$ commercial windows update for XP or any other of their OSes.
I manage large commercial projects for some very large commercial and government clients - some of which were valued at millions of dollars.
I have to applaud the AP team for their fine efforts.
I have found their free software to be of high quality and high value.
In the REAL WORLD schedules slip, people do not get fired just because of a slip.
The saying in the real world (including the management of projects) is “things happen” even with highly paid professionals.
Fully regression tested products with a slip of a month or two that work as expected are nothing to complain about (most of the time you will get slips that are far worse).
Do a goggle on the blackberry outage and you will see that commercially developed software can fail in really bad ways. They had a network outage because of a badly deployed release.
Other companies have had the same problems.
With experience you know the difference between a real problem and a minor delay.
A minor delay means a slight slip - very common, but no show stopper no one usually cares as it will get done.
A show stopper is just that - a critical issue that has profound impact on the project and or deliverables.
These happen more frequently than you might think - particularly when stupid (yes, they are professionals) people do stupid things.
So, the gist of it is - I think these kids are doing great work as a hobby that puts the comparative commercial work of M$ to shame.
I don’t think they should be fired because no one hired them - they are doing this for free.
I would be glad to hire them for one of my projects judged by their work - I would not fire them for a slight insignificant fully justified slip.
I have hired and fired people, and I know the reasons for such.
These kids have never even approached doing something to be fired for - so, why make such statements.
It makes me feel ashamed that these devoted kids should be demeaned with unfounded criticism.
In the commercial world if the product you want is not there (i.e., M$ SP3 for XP) you either wait until you can get it - OR YOU GET SOMETHING ELSE.
OH - lets not forget that M$ says that Vista is everyones solution to everyones problem. So, why is the world not upgrading to M$ commercial solution to solve all their problems? After all - Vista was not developed as a hobby by kids. It is not free, it costs a lot - so it must be of much higher quality and greater value - judging by the price alone.
Hope this explains my rant.
With loving regards,
Bohdan

Friends,
“Cilit Bang Says:
No-one can tell me that the if a contracted project was managed in this way, and it’s “customers†delayed it wouldn’t be pulled.”
Well - I am telling you and everyone else just that. And I cited M$ Vista as an example - it was delayed years.
I am also citing some real world examples to show you this is true - and why your comment is not real world.
I am also saying you don’t have to react this way (making silly complaining comments) or comparing commercial to freeware or firing people.
I am a professional who has over 21 years experience in the commercial world.
I get paid big dollars to judge whether projects are doing well or poorly.
I am not being paid for my comment now, you could not afford my rate.
My professional judgment tells me these kids are doing great with AP.
They should be praised for their efforts and their kindly feedback provided in these forums.
Hope this explains more of my rant.
With ever more loving regards,
Bohdan

well said bodhan, if only the autopatcher team could prevent the impatient idiot that is clit bang (or whatever his stupid name is) from getting his hands on the new release.

They come in threes!
Also, let me tell you about my real world commercial job in program and project management /system engineering.
I always tell my people what my job is - my job is to ensure that they are freed from all encumbrances to their completion of assigned tasks. I serve as their flack jacket so they do not take the bullet and die.
I move obstacles out of their way so they can get their work done.
I handle the complaints, so they don’t have to - so they can get their job done.
I also praise them for their good work - what ever their skill level or capabilities are.
I provide constructive criticism and guidance when needed.
I find solutions and ways around obstacles.
I deal with management.
As the book says, managers don’t work - they manage.
This is what works in the real world.
In most cases politics is 90 to 95 per cent of the job and is the determining factor in project completion and/or success.
Technology is a very small contributor to project success.
So, although I am not PM for this project I have spent my valuable time acting as one in this small instance.
One of my function is - REALITY CHECK - i.e., IS IT REALLY SO?
With even ever more loving regards,
Bohdan

AND - I HANDLE THE PROJECT DELAY ISSUES!!!
May 28th, 2007 at 3:56 pm
MY DEVELOPERS DO NOT HANDLE THE PROJECT DELAY ISSUES - that is my job.
May 28th, 2007 at 4:09 pm
AND, I TELL THEM I CAN NOT SUCCEED ON MY OWN - AS A MANAGER - I AM ONLY SUCCESSFUL AS A RESULT OF THE WORK THEY DO. IF THEY DON’T SUCCEED - I FAIL!
May 28th, 2007 at 8:54 pm

Technology is a very small contributor to project success.
That why we as a human race should be living in other galaxy right now instead of this dead planet because people sit around in useless meeting, argue about useless issues, hinder technical people from doing their work. Then go home and hope for the best possible solution.

There is some truth in this.
If you can do
If you cant teach
If you cant teach Manage.
May 29th, 2007 at 8:56 am
@Ben,
Some some people who do, do do do.
That is if you can manage to manage - not everyone can manage that.
Don’t forget the useless teleconferences, the flood of useless emails, status meetings, status reports, and now blogs.
I wish they were just useless, in fact many are counter productive. They can be the black holes for progress.
This is often a contributing factor for project delays.
There is the 8am status meeting, the 12pm status meeting to discuss the 8am status meeting, and the 5pm status meeting to discuss the 8am and 12pm status meetings which all ask the exact same questions over and over again. Didn’t they hear the answer the first time? - No, it appears they are deaf, (really) dumb, and blind.
I would at times just say 42. After all that is the ultimate answer to the ultimate question.
Which is why I say PM in itself does not produce on-time well developed products. PM processes are in fact just visibility tools. You can apply the process very well to producing useless junk. Well managed - but junk.
Monkeys do not do product development well, even with the best tools.
However a monkey has been shown to do very well in trading on the stock market with a dart and dartboard.
Forgive me - I do not mean to insult any of the monkeys reading this. I am just highlighting they were proven to be very good at stock trading.
Bohdan

And let’s not forget the death of all reason and hope - A COMMITTEE.
Translated - a group of monkeys convened for something other than stock trading.

Bohdan you troll, if you care about the developers, follow my advice. Stop posting your incoherent ramblings. They are a complete waste of time. They (or anyone for that matter) don’t need to waste a moment reading your meaningless rants.
In case you didn’t realize, you make no sense and come off as a complete ass.
May 29th, 2007 at 12:02 pm
Wow!
@Bohdan
Did i strike a nerve of some sort?! You seem to have a grudge against Bill and the boys? M$ Products cannot be compared to projects. Small projects related to industrial engineering are often pulled due to failure to meet deadlines.
There are differences in context between posts 108 and 118… You do not seem to be a professional to me. The way you spoke in 108 implies you have maybe been involved in project work once. Your post in 118 implies it is your daily job.
At least you have read or are aware of Douglas Adams.
Although your information may be useful to some, I doubt it is here. And I certainly cannot understand how it really relates to my comments.
I find the AP developers very talented, and are grateful immensely that they have shared such an app with us all. They themselves will admit there time management isn’t the greatest. They will say it is because of unseen problems.
They are young, and some things are unseen. But they will have learned several lessons, about people, programming and the world over the last few months.
Lessons that I’m sure will improve them in the future. But they have loved learning them, and how all this makes them feel.
How about that for a pointless rant and waste of time.
And Bohdan, tell me another place I can come and kung fu with you, this place is not a suitable ground for debate, more a place to comment on time management.

people are actually complaining about the delay?? WOW thats pretty horrible. AP is a great project put together and I have to say I am anxiously waiting but come on now its a free project first of all, second things like this are not easy to do because theres always obstacles in perfecting a program, third I’m sure those who put AP together have a life as well as other work im sure.
Those who complained about having time to read these posts and reply and such have to realize its easier to read and reply to posts and no one said they absolutely have to work on these projects.
For everyone that is complimenting and not complaining I really wish their were more people out there like you guys because thats what helps them keep going and motivation is what they need.
Those who are complaining should just learn how to do everything on their own instead of being selfish. Whoever works on the AP project, Thank you very much for your effort and thank you very much for helping our lives be easier.

Thanks alot guys keep up the good work

Just to think that you and the team could work so assiduously to let others you don’t even know, have something as good as this for free, is good enough!!…
Thanks a million!… and keep doing it.. despite the occasional rhetorics!
