APUP Problem

Hi all.
Thank you so much for continuing development on this fantastic program. It has saved me so much time in the past when deploying machines on our network.
I downloaded APUP.zip and unzipped it to it's own directory. Two things I seem to have issues with are:
1. When I run the program sometimes, it stays stuck on Calculating, and then eventually returns an error "Run Time 0".
2. When it does work and it starts downloading, it hangs at a certain point and doesn't continue downloading.
Am I doing something wrong here?
Thanks.

Can you provide more info, such as which list(s) you are downloading, and which update it hangs on. Also, make sure that you have the latest version of apup.exe from here: http://www.autopatch.../files/apup.zip

If I'm looking at this right, the lists that I am downloading are:
AutoPatcher Engine 5.6.81
AutoPatcher for Windows XP (x86) -- English
AutoPatcher for Office 2007 -- English
AutoPatcher for Office 2003 -- English
AutoPatcher for Office XP -- English
It looks like it's hanging on KB929063_pro_enu.apm. I let it sit there for an hour, and it was just stuck there.
I have screenshots if you want to see them.
AutoPatcher Engine 5.6.81
AutoPatcher for Windows XP (x86) -- English
AutoPatcher for Office 2007 -- English
AutoPatcher for Office 2003 -- English
AutoPatcher for Office XP -- English
It looks like it's hanging on KB929063_pro_enu.apm. I let it sit there for an hour, and it was just stuck there.

I am having the same issue. It breaks at different places each time. It seems like it fails to make the transition sometimes from trying to download from the autopatcher server to downloading from the microsoft server. (I am assuming this is what is happening, because each update it downloads, it tries first from the autopatcher server, then the microsoft server) Each time it quits downloading, it was trying to download from the autopatcher server. I have tried it multiple times. Any suggestions?

This is how it appeared to me as well. APUP would fetch a .apm from autopatcher.com, then fetch from MS. When it went back to AP.com for another .apm, it would hang there. I was able to exit and restart APUP to move the process along.
Now it's stuck trying to fetch apengine.script. Strange that the "Finish" button is now displayed.

Just downloaded and extracted the apap.zip again.
I've had similar problems, so I tried unchecking all of the items except the autopatcher engine to see how it would run by itself.
It was working on downloading the apengine_exe.cab file, and froze with 1 second left, and the "run-time error '0'. This was the first time I had ever seen the apengine_exe.cab in the folder with the other files. Running apup.exe gives run-time 0. Deleted folder with files to start over again.
Next I tried only extracting the 177.34 MB windows XP files, leaving everything else (including the engine) unchecked. It locked up fetching kb936021_xp_enu.apm from autopatcher.com. Hit the exit button, then tried to re-run the apup.exe. "run-time error '0'"
Deleted entire folder, and tried again. Got error about proper files. Downloaded apup.zip again.
Tried downloading windows xp files again. This time it froze fetching kb928843_xp_x86_enu.apm from autopatcher.com. Exiting and running apup again gives runtime error 0.
Deleted all files, re-extracted to folder. I next tried office 2003 only. Fetched 267.81 MB / 267.81 MB (100%). Next button greyed out. Pressed the exit button. Run-time error '0' immediately pops up again. Unable to run apup.exe again without run-time error.
Have extracted apup.zip to desktop folder named apup each time.
Running apup on a fresh load of xp media center on Dell laptop, ATI video, 2GB memory, no AV or antispyware installed to get in the way of download.
Hope this helps.

i am having a freezing issue.
i am using the may autopatcher. ( i was new then, first time using it and it works fine).
i tried this upup and it freezes at different spots each time. the first time at 98%, the last times at 4, 5, 3,6%.
i believe it would be after a microsoft download and before the autopatcher download.
i tried just checking just the os updates and then the os and autopatcher engine update together. neither made a difference.
i downloaded the upup again and trried that, no difference. i did not check any office updates.

I had the same issue when I ran apup, but it's not an issue, just a minor inconvenience that I'm happy to work through because this program is [censored] awesome.
Apup only freezed between downloads, so just close it and run it again. It picks up where it left off. Mine stopped at ~32MB twice, 20MB once, some other small amount, and then I got the last 110MB or so.

Thanks for the suggestion, but each time I restart APUP, it errors out with "Run Time 0" error. The only way to get it to run again is to delete all the downloaded info in the directory and start from scratch.

Exactly the same problem here, too. After around 20 or 25 tries - after deleting the previous download and starting fresh, I've found the download routine freezes about 80% of the time, all at different places, and the remaining 20% of the tries I get validation errors. Unfortunately, it doesn't tell me which parts are faulty. I first try to download the AutoPatcher Engine, which usually transfers OK, then AutoPatcher for Windows XP alone. I haven't got a good download yet.

It also just hangs on calculating for me - over an hour. It never progresses. The older version did.

Don't wait for the calculation. Just select the release you want and download it. That is a "bug" that was introduced, because before, all the scripts were downloaded wen you started APUP, and now, only the ones you select are downloaded. In future versions, that might be added to a 2nd window, after your release selection.

This happens after you select the release you want. As the release is being downloaded, it seems to hang after first looking at your site for the section to be downloaded and before downloading it from Microsoft. I've gotten anywhere from 15 to 50% of the entire download before the freeze.

Just downloaded the new and improved apap.zip, and the download went completely through without freezing. I did, however, get the error window that says "One or more files failed the verification," so not knowing which file(s) were bad, I went through the entire download again, with the same results.
Suggestion: A log of the download and/or verification routine to see which files fail. That way I could delete just the bad ones and recover the files I need without having to go through the entire download.

I am getting the same error on a few different xp sp2 systems that I've tried it on. I get a few of the script files and it dies with the runtime error 0
This seems to be quite consistent.

I was getting the Runtime Error 0 in relation to something else, the script was updated tonight and it seemed to fix it, you should try again - also try with a clean download of apup.

I still seem to be having the same issues as before, I get the Runtime Error 0. I downloaded a fresh copy of APUP using the link posted above, and it downloaded files for a long time. However, it crashed with the Runtime Error 0. Now, when I start it, it almost immediately crashes with the same error.

Which version of AutoPatcher script are you using?
Run apup.exe /log and then post here the txt file.
