Whether there are news about new release Autopatcher 2003? Or Autopatcher 2003 is dead?

kevin551, basically, some free time to test the script, know something about how to silent deploy an update and how to fix issues that someone may do by selecting the wrong thing and also some knowledge about superseed and new updates, know how to fix download issues that someone may report or you discover by yourself. also, you need know how to take kb download links and how to use some md5 tool and, of course, an legit version of the OS that you intent to take care and some time to look over the forum from times to times to look over issues reported.

a few other things may be also needed, also run notepad, zip something (7zip, but zip also works) and, of course, know how upload something by ftp. this other things aren't the big deal, in fact. but know how to fix issues that someone may do by selecting the wrong thing is almost mandatory.

we may help a little with build the script, since we already have a new documentation about apup and the script, but we still don't had the time to fix language issues (i wrote that and i don't speak english by born, so...) and also fix some issues that may still be missing in that

Hi Christiano,
OK, I am still interested, I will be able to do most of the above, and will seek help when I need to.
If I post here tomorrow a list of the recent updates, the download links, and an md5 hash let me know what is done next.
Kevin

Below are the 11 critical fixes released in September and October for server 2003 sp2.
I have included the updates for both IE6 and IE7 although I only use IE7.

Ooops!

I think we have all missed this post because you added the list as an edit to your previous post. Unfortunately, the side-effect of that is to show no new posts from you, when we check the board.

Having gathered the basic info about each download, you now need to build that into the script. First, you need to create an APM file for each of those updates. You can do that manually or by using the Module Editor.

Secondly, add each of the downloads to the main script (autopatcher_2k3_x86_enu.script). The information each time needed is: From / To / Size / MD5.

Both these steps become obvious once you study the existing .script and .apm files.

The download URLs that you have posted are correct, but they have extra information that needs to be removed. Remove the first half that begins with http://www.microsoft.com... leaving just the section beginning with http://download.microsoft.com...

James,
I've been looking to do these updates for Win 2003 x86 myself as Autopatcher will really help my in my DMZ. Iv'e been looking for the main script (autopatcher_2k3_x86_enu.script) file but it's nowhere in my AutoPatcher folder. Where does that file get stored?

Hi Jamie

The script is not stored on your computer at all. APUP downloads it for its own use and deletes it on exit.

I am sending you both the direct download link. Please check your PMs.

Hi James

Have downloaded and looked at the script you linked and also at the apm files.
I have some questions.

Are you still supporting the patches on server 2003 sp1 ? It appears the last patches done by Erik did so.
I have sp2 installed and would not be testing on the earlier service pack.

Where is the the Module Editor you mention?
Does it allow for merging the changes made by two people?
If not then perhaps only of us should do this stage.

I will write a new post here when I have created apm files for the 11 fixes I mentioned earlier.

Kevin

that is located under apup\tools folder.

> Does it allow for merging the changes made by two people?
yes and no. the best thing to do is only one person at a time edit the same file. that doesn't mean that the file can't be updated by several people, each one after another

To get the Module Editor to run you need to add a VB6 runtime file.
You can download comct232.ocx from
http://activex.micro...b6/comct232.cab

that file is downloaded by our scripts, if you choose to update apup and autopatcher from times to times, you already has it. if i'm not mistaken, i've added this file into autopatcher script a couple of months ago

Hi
I'm also interested in helping with the server 2003 releases.
I have skills in programming and i can improve vb modules.
But one thing - my free time amount is several unstable - some periods
is extremely busy, other days is free.

Hi,

The Win2003/x32 updater currently fails on one file (rootsupd.exe). I am willing to help out with maintaining the win2003 branch of autopatcher. I certainly do have a valid copy of 2003 (volume, for work), am capable of quickly retrieving and updating when patches are released (I do this anyway for work) and would be happy to assist in updating here as well. Thanks!

(Not 100% sure on the expected filesize, depends on how it's calculated in AP. But the new MD5 is correct).

Jamyn,

Thanks for your report and the offer of help. The error you reported has been fixed today.

Although you are the fourth person to offer help, you are actually the first to provide some input. Would you be interested in providing information for other new updates as well?

Hi 2003 autopatcher supporters,
these are the fixes that windows update offers to download+apply but autopatcher stays silent:

kb958215
kb952069
kb954600
kb956802
kb955839

Any intentions to include them in the autopatcher's detect lisi?

Thank you in advance for your attention.

Hello there,
Has AP 2k3 died now?
I see lots of offers of help above, howabout this.....truffles (above) has fixed the KB925902 issue (maybe) but I don't have the .script file to try the edit as AP deletes it on exit you say. How about a release that doesn't delete this file then if an issue develops & someone's kind/clever enough to fix it then at least those of us in-the-know can fix our own copies?

AP is an invaluable tool to someone like myself and I used to use nearly all of the versions of it before M$ put the boot in.
Great that your back now (belated congrats i know, but it needed saying)
