Google updater did its thing and new Internet Explorer toolbar installed - have no idea if it's beta - guess you'll have to check.

Well I'm going round in circles trying to check this out:
http://toolbar.google.com/ takes me straight to the Firefox version, not the Internet Explorer version.

The versions page gives me:
Version 5.0.2124.2070 for Internet Explorer, released October 28, 2008.
and
Version 3.1.20081010 for Firefox, released October 14, 2008. (Anything else for FF seems to be a Beta.)

Another page tells me that this IE version (I assume that means 5.0.2124.2070) will only run on XP and Vista. Not 2000, not 64-bit, not anything else. I cannot find a reference to version 5.0.2124.4372.

I just checked my #2 system and it too was updated to version: 5.0.2124.4372/en (GGLL)

So I went to the Google home page and found the same version info you mentioned. Have no idea as to why the listed download version is not the same as the version installed by Google updater.

Somebody needs to get their act together and it ain't us.

They could be lazy at updating their homepage which WikiPedia is confirming that the latest version is in fact 5.0.2124.4372. I was able to the last download URL by using a url sniffer while running the google updater software. I'll see if I can track it down when I get the chance to.

Old topic.. but i rather talk in this one than open a new one.. I was pulled to this link when I tried to install Google toolbar in IE8:

Installs fine in IE8 and version number is as follows:

Version: 5.0.2124.6042/en (GGLL)
Notifier Version: 5.0.926.3450
Dictionary Compression Version: 1.0.610.10250

I rather AP not include Google toolbar than include an outdated version 4.0.1602.35650.

do you wanna know that i think about toolbars? waste of download most of the users. i did an test script to download this new version and it works, but i'm concerned about the download size. the previews version had about 1,11 MB and this one has about 196 KB. just also an guess, i believe that:
1 - this one downloads something when installing;
2 - they did an diet at this one

i have no time to test it right now, maybe at night

edit: it is best to remove this from the AutoPatcher Extras

Yes, thanks a bunch for deleting the Google Toolbar installer from AP.

I am sure that no-one was using it but me, however it's still very annoying when it's deleted from your local copy without warning or permission.

PsiMoon314, pal, please, if we don't set an removed thing to be removed from the local patch for apup, then you will have an file that isn't at our rti file and then the release will become unofficial at once. so, if anything is removed from the package, we must set it to be also removed from the local copy, it's just the logical course of action. also, i have several modules that aren't found at our scripts, like an module to add more atomic clocks to sync windows. if i put this into my apup folder, then every single time that i sign the modules, the ones that download the script will have an unofficial version.

besides, we informed that this one was removed at Mar 21 2009. at Mar 23 2009, the removal command was informed in this topic. so, how can you say that this was done without any warning, if an warn was given 2 weeks ago?

Besides which, the version installed by AutoPatcher was already way out-of-date.

Good grief you guys just have no idea do you?

Deleting files from users PC's without permission is a crime in many jurisdictions (the UK for instance) so for your own piece of mind it might be a good idea to warn users before you do so in the future.

A warning in this case is a prompt at run time, not a message buried in a forum where you have to actively look for it.

The "Unofficial" tag has been there for ages and I don't see any sign that it will disappear any time in the near future. In any event I make my own changes to my local copy so that is a non issue for me and I am sure for many others.

PsiMoon314, what you think that we have to do every single month when an update is replaced? remove the obsolete file, isn't? we asked to you update the script? yes, we asked once and you have refused. we said to you more than once that we haven't the time to some things. keep one eye into an tool without any kind of documentation is one of those tasks. no one is asking to you choose apup.

because you keep in your apup folder files that wasn't suppose to be in there. apup is singed since ages ago.

in fact, if there's one thing that i don't like is keep arguing the exact same thing for nothing. google toolbar is gone and it will not come back again. case and topic closed
