Downloaded the latest apup and put it in C:\autopatcher. Every single file is getting the above message. I have no software firewalls running. Would post a log file but can't find one

Any help appreciated

can you please run apup with /log argument and post the log in here, with infos about the name of your firewall and how do you connect to the internet (are you behind an proxy or something?)

I have no software firewall but use a Netgear cable router (hardware firewall). Been running apup with no probs until now. Heres the log - sorry I dont know a good upload location

Thanks for posting your log-file.

"Connection is forcefully rejected" is a Windows winsock error usually associated with too many open connections, or a faulty server. Since the server for those 80 files will be one of Microsoft's download server farms, a faulty server would be quite unlikely. That leaves something at your end or perhaps the ISP interface is rejecting connections to Microsoft (which also does not seem likely). Anything changed on your system since you were able to run APUP successfully?

My system changes quite regularly. At the time the problem first occured I had Avast AV Pro (but not the firewall) installed. I have uninstalled that in case the firewall part was unintentionally running and restarted. Other than that nothing else.

Thanks for your informed reply which has pointed me in the right direction ie. suspecting my own system. Judicious use of Spybot and Super Anti Spyware has found little nastys called Zlob.DNSChanger.Rtk and Win32.Agent.sd. The first had a process called kdgdl.exe. After removal of these apup is now running normally. Thanks again

From what I know of Zlob.DNSChanger.Rtk it can be quite difficult to remove. I think the name kdgdl.exe may vary as well, so others may find a different file.

Anyway, glad to hear that APUP is working again.
