I really loved autopatcher, it was great! A lot of my customers have dial-up connections and updating with Windows (brain dead) Update was beyond a chore (one customer spent a week trying to download SP2 using update.) I'm still in the mindset that Microsoft employees, management and executives should be tied to their chairs and made to update their computers over a 9600 modem.

I've discovered that APUP is useful at getting the updates for critical and noncritical patches but can it be adapted to get everything else?

Is there a source for AddOns and Components for instance?

Keep in mind that APUP is currently in 'very early beta', a lot of bugs are still being squashed and features tweaked. I'm sure that once the app stabilised we'll see the team pump out different scripts and have a utility for creating unofficial scripts =]

The Add-Ons will be added after i fixed all the bugs that were introduced by adding the Components.

i've seen that apm files downloaded from ap server are very small. why doesn't the apup download all files indicated in the script as one zip or any other way that can be then separated, then donwload all micro$oft updates.

That's in the works for a future release, but they currently have trouble with unpacking files after download, so they haven't done it yet.
