Error fetching release list

Subscript out of range
in prjUpdater.mdlDownloader.processDownloadQueue at line 100
no longer appears, but I still get the error in AutoPatcher Updater saying Error fetching release list!
Is there anything else that I can try?
I tried using APUP mod and it does connect and download, but I don't know how reliable it is.
Thanks for your help.

Could you re-run APUP, create a log file, and post it -> apup.exe /log
Does Outpost still have "allow all activities for this application", make sure APUP has complete access to the internet.
Your AV, and other security software may still be blocking APUP - specifics here would help as to your system setup,
OS, proxy?, virtual machine?, other security software? etc.
Use the forum "Search" feature -> outpost +term1 +term2 and see if anything applies to you.
Have a look at the FAQ (my sig) if you haven't already.
I cant tell by your mention of "APUP mod" what exactly you were able to download but if you finished the download,
got the "Finish" tab, your module should be complete - wont know until you post a log file. I'm not sure of any "official"
support for APUP mod??
Report back and someone will help you sort this out.

APUP Has Started
Operating System: English (1033) Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2
Current Locale: English - Australia / Non-Unicode Default: English - Australia
Starting APUP From: D:\apup
Date & Time: 24-Jan-2009 08:41 UTC Offset: 10
***Downloading/Processing Releases.list***
List file HTTP location: http://www.autopatch...m/releases.list
releases.list: ctlwinsckdownloader component failure
I selected "allow all activities for this application" when I was prompted and disabled content filtering also.
I'm running Avira Antivirus
Ad-Aware 2008
Spybot S&D
HiJack This
That's all that I can think of that could be blocking an internet connection.
The following thread
http://www.autopatcher.com/forums/index.ph...&hl=outpost
says that
APUP must be allowed all of the following:
1. Administrator privileges;
2. Write access to the HKLM area of the registry; and
3. Write access to the SYSTEM32 folder
How can I make sure that it does?
I found apupmod in the following post:
http://www.autopatcher.com/forums/index.ph...&hl=apupmod
From what I understand, it changes the port used? Is there another way of doing this?

Did you follow all that XCaju said to follow, it seems he had the fix at least at that time?
Make sure none of the other software you mentioned has any kind of "prevent unknown application from
running" enabled - It may be worded differently.
I'm still not sure what exactly were you able to download with apupmod?

I've tried looking for things to disable but no luck
the apupmod opens a console window and asks you to press 'y' for scripts you would like to download. I used it to download apup.exe and autopatcher.exe

This method is awkward because as I said I don't know what is being downloaded but if this is able to connect and download, I don't see why the normal exe shouldn't? Any ideas?
PS sorry for the long post.

Also, -> +2 -> it looks like the "Service" must be shut down for it to work, did you try this?
It may take more than disabling content filtering and allowing all activities, you may need to shut down
the service. I don't have this firewall and I cant exactly tell what worked, it seems like the guy says one
thing and then another, if you follow in order of posts. I would try everything.
XCaju's posts: ...START
12. Just disabling firewall's protection doesn't work; you must shutdown it's service.
14. But even when the "Allow all activity" option is enabled to iexplore.exe and to apup.exe the error
occurs. And neither disabling firewall's self-protection nor changing its policy works. Disabling firewall's
host protection doesn't help as well.
15. I found it. Disabling the "Content filtering" for apup.exe solves the problem. In the Outpost 2009,
it's in the application rules window, on the "Options" tab. I don't know why it doesn't disable this when
you disable the firewall's protection. I think it should. ...END
Try this:
First, "Shutdown (stop) The Firewall", right-click the tray icon and shutdown. Once the firewall is stopped,
disable the service "outpost" I believe.
About apupmod:
I ran it and it seemed to work fine but after looking at the folder, it did nothing with the zip files, just left
them in temp_bin unzipped. The program should have created a directory structure like what APUP builds
I would assume, and it didn't. If you didn't know what files and folders you needed this method would
confuse anybody??? I would avoid it if I was you.
The scripts you would want from the list are (depending on what you need)...
These for sure:
->apup.script
->apengine.script
->autopatcher_xp_sp3_enu_0901a_p.script
This is a pic of a barebones directory (minus the modules folder which gets created when you select a
module). In APUP this is what the first 2 selections create. I would have expected apupmod to do the
same but it didn't.
APUP Folder (no module)
I'm not sure if you have seen the APUP main window when it runs, here it is. I believe it is what apupmod
references when it asks you:
"Press Y then Enter if you need a script, simply Enter if you don't".
APUP Main Window

1. Administrator privileges;
2. Write access to the HKLM area of the registry; and
3. Write access to the SYSTEM32 folder
How can I make sure that it does?
Since you are running Windows XP, you will have all these privileges if you are logged-in as the Administrator, or any other account that you have set up to be a member of the group Administrators.
However, access to the HKLM part of the registry and write access to SYSTEM32 can be blocked by Anti-Virus programs and other programs that look for "suspicious" activity. Notorious amongst these are some Norton/Symantec products which have even blocked Microsoft from updating its own operating system. The problem is that every program Installer does these activities, not just malicious software. APUP should be regarded as an Installer because it is checking and registering the Visual Basic controls, downloading EXE files from the Internet (all of the Microsoft updates are EXE files) and it is running another program (7-zip) to unpack ZIP and 7Z archives.
In your case, none of this is happening, so if it is not stopped by the Agnitum Outpost firewall, then something else is blocking APUP from working.
I do not run this myself, so I do not know this for certain, but in your case it is possible that the Spybot S&D Teatimer process is also blocking APUP.

The images you have shown me of the APUP window is different to what I used to see (when autopatcher worked). How did you make apupmod look like it does (different OS?) in your second image instead of the cmd window i get when I run it? The window you have is easier to understand than the cmd one.
Also, are all the items you selected the ones that I will need to download to bring my PC up to XP SP3? I am currently on SP2.
Do you know if the apupmod will show a different list of items/scripts that are available for download or is that list coded in?
The two Autopatcher windows I see:
This is what was downloaded a few months back with autopatcher, as i said it was still working

Current apup

apupmod cmd window. How can i get it to look like your list in your second pic (if possible)?

we don't did it, an user from this forum did. also an alternative to download through proxy. by doing so, if some support is needed, the user that did that mod should be the one giving support for his own creation. the user that has created that was italianstyle and he explained his creation in here. maybe his infos can help you a little, if you wish run apupmod
also, you are downloading everything in the exact same folder. this will give you a lot of issues when downloading and also that "unofficial" message at the right corner
also, apup.exe is to download the scripts and autopatcher.exe is to install the updates

I meant, how did he make it look like this?

Those 'R' and 'AO' options as well as the text up the top I'm guessing were added in by gUiTaR_mIkE. Is that all that is neccessary to bring SP2 up to SP3?
What do you mean I am downloading everything to the exact same folder? How do I change that?
All I used to do was run apup then run autopatcher and it worked. I dpn't remember choosing a download directory, it did it all itself. Was that wrong?
EDIT: I'm in safe mode right now, but it still doesn't work.

no, there's not an sp3 pack included. you need grab that from WU or at least download the sp3 from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloadS/details...;displaylang=en
> I am downloading everything to the exact same folder?
every time that you hit several scripts to be downloaded at the same time you are downloading all them into the same folder. you can download at the same time, safely:
autopatcher updater
autopatcher engine
autopatcher for windows xp sp3
direct x
.net
extras
java
nothing else in the same folder, please. in your previews post, in that image, is possible see that you have at least some office updates into the same folder. to avoid that, there's just one thing that you can do: run apup from other folders, like:
c:\vista
c:\xpsp3
c:\2ksp4
c:\office2k3
c:\office2k7
etc
> I dpn't remember choosing a download directory
you can't choose it through apup, since apup was designed to have all the updates in the same folder (but no one was thinking that in order to minimize errors, all the scripts need to be updated at the same time and that probably will never be done due lack of time of one or other releaser)
> Was that wrong?
not wrong, since apup was designed to that. but because a lot of autopatcher team members just vanished, we are currently unable to update all the scripts in the exact same time and that can give you a lot of errors in the download process and leave all your scrips also unofficial due just one script with an error

15. I found it. Disabling the "Content filtering" for apup.exe solves the problem. In the Outpost 2009,
it's in the application rules window, on the "Options" tab. I don't know why it doesn't disable this when
you disable the firewall's protection. I think it should. ...END

By the way, our pictures were the same. That picture I posted that you thought was apupmod was APUP. I
had to edit the look so I could write the "R" and "AO" info. Now that you have been able to connect, your
APUP window is now populated with "release" info, of course mine was that ugly brown/gray and yours is
the pretty blue. I used a screen capture program to scroll the APUP window, that is how you can see all the
available releases - that's all.
Also, after re reading this post I remember you were a little confused about AutoPatcher and APUP, and that
they are not the same "type" of program, nor do the same things.
APUP -> (needs an internet connection), is a download manager, the release maintenance program, you don't
use it to update your PC, you run it to create a release module. After you download your release, at least for
the moment, you are done with APUP, until you want to perform some maintenance on your module by
downloading new files or deleting old ones.
AutoPatcher -> (no internet connection required), it is the "GUI" program that detects and installs the updates
or other software based on the module you created using APUP. When you run AutoPatcher, it will detect and
load whatever module you created whether it be the update packages for an OS or maybe DirectX or Adobe
Reader.
