Hi,

I have downloaded the apup.zip from the download page ( for Vista) and when I try to install it I get the error message,
"missing necessary files in order to run Autopatcher".

I have read through the forums which advises going to the announcements section or checking the FAQ's page which I have done, but can not understand what to do.

As far as I have understand I need to download an "Autopatcher updater client" for this apup to work. Or am I wrong?

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi bluegrass and welcome to these forums.

It's not exactly clear what you did after downloading apup.zip, but the zip file should be unpacked so that it keeps the folder structure intact. In the folder you unpacked it to you should see at least the program Apup.exe and a folder apup_bin. There are other files as well.

If you see both of these your next step is to run Apup.exe.
If you do not see the apup_bin folder, the ZIP has not been unpacked correctly.

When you run Apup.exe, make sure that the first two items on the list are selected. That will download the rest of the AutoPatcher files.

To actually use AutoPatcher, you have to also select the correct Operating System from the list of releases that comes after the first two items. This will download all the updates for the Operating System you have just selected.

At last success.

Thank you James for your help.

The problem was I wasn't unzipping the file correctly.
