You're right - something is amiss somewhere.

Time to go back and check on what I was doing at the time.

I updated both Flash Players to version 10.1.51.45 (I know you don't show betas in addons.)

When I run AutoPatcher in Windows Addons one listing is black, as expected: Macromedia (Adobe) Flash Player 10.0.45.2 for MFON and the other: Macromedia (Adobe) Flash Player 10.0.45.2 for IE is still blue.

I checked the registry and the listing for both had Flash Player 10.1.51.45

Previously, when I had done this both turned from blue to black - now only one lisiting changes color. Something is not detecting correctly, I would think.

i'm not so sure. flahplayer has only file detections. if they where updated, the files us to change. can you please check those:

[DetectionFile]
FilePath=system32:\Macromed\Flash\
FileName=Flash10e.ocx
FileVersion=>10.0.45.2

FilePath=system32:\Macromed\Flash\
FileName=FlashUtil10e.exe
FileVersion=>10.0.45.2

due "only file detections", autopatcher works in "this and this" mode. so booth files shall be untouched to be properly detected.

the not ie version has an registry detection, so this one works in "this or this" mode:
RegistryPath=HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Adobe Flash Player Plugin
KeyName=DisplayVersion
KeyValue=10.0.45.2

[DetectionFile]
FilePath=system32:\Macromed\Flash\
FileName=NPSWF32.dll
FileVersion=10.0.45.2

FilePath=system32:\Macromed\Flash\
FileName=NPSWF32_FlashUtil.exe
FileVersion=10.0.45.2

if you can, please check those files, to see if in deed you have another version installed

At HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Adobe Flash Player ActiveX
DisplayName = Adobe Flash Player 10.1.51.45 ActiveX
DisplayVersion = 10.1.51.45

At HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Adobe Flash Player Plugin
DisplayName = Adobe Flash Player 10.1.51.45 Plugin
DisplayVersion = 10.1.51.45

[AutoPatcher 5.6 Module]
Title=Macromedia (Adobe) Flash Player 10.0.45.2 for Internet Explorer

[DetectionFile]
FilePath=system32:\Macromed\Flash\
FileName=Flash10e.ocx
FileVersion=>10.0.45.2

FilePath=system32:\Macromed\Flash\
FileName=FlashUtil10e.exe
FileVersion=>10.0.45.2

Title=Macromedia (Adobe) Flash Player 10.0.45.2 for Mozilla, Firefox, Opera and Netscape

[DetectionFile]
FilePath=system32:\Macromed\Flash\
FileName=NPSWF32.dll
FileVersion=10.0.45.2

FilePath=system32:\Macromed\Flash\
FileName=NPSWF32_FlashUtil.exe
FileVersion=10.0.45.2

The difference between the two is obvious when you look at FileVersion: one has => and the other = that's why one stays blue and the other is black. The => means equal to or greater than.

Fix the detection and they will both be shown as black when a later version is insatlled. :P

i'm not sure, but that was changed due an problem with => and certain files. also, another issue: at least with the normal user version, the files us to change every single time than a new version arrives. but no problem, that => will be added tomorrow

If you leave them both at = and not at => then when a user installs a later but beta version then the color reverts back to black. I would think you would want to only have final versions, not beta versions, officially listed and thereby resulting in a color change to blue. B)

Comparing the previous and current .apm files, I noticed that registry detection for flashplayer_IE_x86.apm
was removed, but flashplayer_notIE_x86.apm still has registry detection. Why the inconsistency?

now i'm puzzled. i was updating silverlight and i've remembered about this issue. booth flash players has booth file and registry detections.

this is from flashplayer_IE_x86.apm:
Spoiler

and this is from flashplayer_notIE_x86.apm:
Spoiler

so, booth has file and registry detections, but a couple of months ago, one of them didn't had an registry detection. are you sure that this lack of registry detection is from the current version?

I went ahead and APUped the Addons again and the Flash .apm files were replaced and now look fine. The files I
had previously were:

flashplayer_IE_x86.apm 1795 11.03.2010 16:11
flashplayer_notIE_x86.apm 1964 11.03.2010 16:12

I probably forgot to update Addons.

Thanks

that's the part that i love in english... a lot of words change a single letter and have another meaning... but could be worst... could be my boss trying speak in english, confusing "feel" with "fill", just because the sound looks the same...

ok, the extras package was updated to match with the new versions for flash player. as for adobe air, i've found an viable and permanent download link (at least, i think so) for it. it has about 12MB, so is kite unfair to those that have slow ICs download the extras package with an tool that they may not require. but ok, more and more things are being build over this. so, i will do an stand alone module for this one, as the adobe reader. so, only those that wish it will download it, without hurt anyone. but give me a few days. right now, i really need to rest due an unpredicted problem
