I know this is not a Vista / Server issue rather an "Extras" issue but I figured I would post here since the topic is running.
I have searched the latest Extras script, edited a local Extras script and this does work (eliminates errors), with a caveat.
(01) Since both the old versions of flash for IE / non_IE browsers are still in the folders, for the removal of v10.0.12.36...
I added the following PreAction - which removed the outdated flash installers.
PreAction.FileDelete=autopatcher:\modules\AddOns\flashplayer_notIE_files\install_flash_player_10.exe
PreAction.FileDelete=autopatcher:\modules\AddOns\flashplayer_IE_files\install_flash_player_10_active_x.exe
(02) I'm wondering if this is what is causing the repeated delete/download of these apm files...
I removed the following PreAction - which fixed the APUP error found below.
#J+ 2008-10-21 New SilverLight 2.0 & Flash 10 updates. Removed AdbeReader, & "delete WallPapers".
PreAction.FileDelete=autopatcher:\modules\AddOns\flashplayer_IE_x86.apm
PreAction.FileDelete=autopatcher:\modules\AddOns\flashplayer_notIE_x86.apm
Producing this error- from the APUP log.

Missing file G:\AutoPatcher\Addons.Misc\modules\AddOns\flashplayer_IE_x86.apm
Missing file G:\AutoPatcher\Addons.Misc\modules\AddOns\flashplayer_notIE_x86.apm
(03) (_ASSUMING_) the "apm" files and "_extras_.7z" contents are correct...
DetectFile=autopatcher:\modules\AddOns\MicrosoftUpdate_x86.apm
correct hash = 64c6f0fc05a76a8ff5676d071d73cd6c
windows_extras_0812.7z
correct size = 13438
correct hash = A6B546C28F004039378C58ED0182DD97
(04) I didn't locate a link in the script for the latest flash player "v10.0.22.87" for IE.
(05) Question / Caveat?
How do you "delete" old files from folders whose "new" files have the same exact name?
I can see by adding (01) to the script you would create the same problem found in (02)....

OK, I can see the problem, there is a regression error in the script.
We used to have flashplayer_IE_x86.apm, then went to flashplayer_IE_enu.apm, now back to flashplayer_IE_x86.apm.
But the PreActions have not been reverted to match.
You don't. Apup will replace the file.
The reason Apup is not replacing the file is because of a second script error: the download section for install_flash_player_10_active_x.exe is missing.
Cristiano has said (see above) that he will fix the script in a few hours time, otherwise I can fix it maybe tomorrow.

there's no need. the script has an permanent link, so each time that adobe updates flash, the new file is downloaded. apup will point anyway, because the hash has changed
by the way, the issue was fixed, including the wrong removal of booth flash players apm (and the script had 2 wrong removals, that wasn't pointed because of the usage of the PreAction.FileDelete, that isn't showed at the log. could be far easier if the command was just this one: PreAction=del "autopatcher:..."). now, the script will not download the file again, unless the file has changed in deed. take a look at the log:

I wasn't asking for help, I was experimenting on a local script after I saw a few posts regarding flash errors and I was sharing
my findings so the downloaded script could be edited accordingly - that's all.

I can only say that after removing...
... These folders:
flashplayer_IE_files
flashplayer_notIE_files
flashplayer_U_files
... These files:
flashplayer_IE_x86.apm
flashplayer_notIE_x86.apm
The latest script will rebuild/download everything except -> the "flashplayer_IE_files" folder and the associated flash installer for IE.

I tried to update my Extras module 2 minutes ago...
... the script is not removing -> install_flash_player_10.exe
... just adding -> install_flashplayer.exe to "flashplayer_notIE_files"
so I manually deleted "install_flash_player_10.exe"
Again, I'm not complaining about any of this I'm just letting you know how the downloaded script is functioning at my end.

you was right about the install_flash_player_10.exe at flashplayer_notIE_files. i've added this into the script:
PreAction=del "autopatcher:\modules\AddOns\flashplayer_notIE_files\install_flash_player_10.exe"
that shall do the trick
> I'm not complaining about any of this
i didn't read your post also an compain. i did read your post also an warning that because of that orphan file, this script could become unofficial, because of that file. because of that, any ideas about issues that may gone wrong are always helpful (and yours us to be helpful a lot of times
)
