Hi guys.
I've noticed that I have some duplicate patches in different subfolders of my Autopatcher for XP SP3 folder. I've used a duplicate file detection program to verify that the patches are indeed identical. I was wondering if this was by design or if the files were left over from an older version of Autopatcher or maybe their classification had changed or maybe something else?
These folders have dupes:
modules\Critical
modules\AddOns\Critical
modules\NonCricitcal
modules\AddOns\NonCritical
Compared to the overall number of patches there are only a handful of dupes.
I also been baffled as to why 2 different versions of the Malicious Software Removal Tool are available in my Autopatcher:
1.39 (March '08) in modules\AddOns\Critical\KB890830_files
2.7 in modules\Critical\KB890830_files
Perhaps this problem is realted?
Thanks for looking.

Hi skywalka...
That folder structure is indeed strange. Is it possible for you to simply delete everything and start from scratch? I know that is a
big deal if you are on a slow connection but it would be well worth cleaning up the mess if you have a high speed connection.
Otherwise, run APUP, make your selections, grab the needed scripts from the temp_bin folder before you click the "Exit" tab,
"Copy" where ever you edit files, and begin correcting and deleting - the scripts will spell everything out.
The folder structure should be something like:
C:\APUP\modules
..........................\AddOns
..........................\Components
..........................\Critical
..........................\NonCritical
..........................\Tweaks
..........................\wga
If you have Office, you will also have
..........................\Officexxx
..........................\OfficeAddons
..........................\oga
Again, I would just delete it all and start fresh.

in deed, you have dupped folders. those can be safely removed:
modules\AddOns\Critical
modules\AddOns\NonCritical
by removing those folders, the other issues may be also solved, unless you have something remaining under modules\AddOns. in this case, the safest thing to do is just remove the entire content of modules\AddOns and run apup again, in order to fix the missing files due that action
but i can't wonder what started that issue. maybe you have moved an older version to AddOns, i'm not sure.

Thanks for replying guys.
I copied the files from:
modules\AddOns\Critical
modules\AddOns\NonCritical
to their correct location.
The Malicious Software Removal Tool problem has ceased.
Thanks again.
