XP Pro x64

Ran APUP2 and got new script.

Windows XP x64 - Critical Updates

KB924667 - black - no check (Also - not listed with the -v2)

KB982381 - black - check marks - listed twice: once as Cumulative for IE8 XP x64 and second time Cumulative for IE for XP x64. Typo in the APM?

KB2481109 - black - check mark still

Windows XP x64 - Non-Critical Updates

All blue

*****
Comment here: I noticed there were, I beleive, eight (8) WMP11 updates listed in Non-critical but they were not all in sequence together - one after the other. Would it be possible to list all similar items together and in alpha-numeric sequence here and everywhere?

It is not possible with the current ap. They are listed in release date order... as far as I noticed acording to code. The only reasons that the release main branches are in order is because we trick it with false dates.

Title=Microsoft Windows - Critical Updates
ReleaseDate=00001100

Title=Microsoft Windows - Updated Components
ReleaseDate=00001300

Title=Windows Addons
ReleaseDate=00003200

Lower release dates will show/install first.

Have fixed the double entry of KB982381(forgot to remove the original one) after renaming the apm.
KB2481109 was corrected to the version you posted DesertJerry so it should display in blue.
As for the others in black I'm not sure what to do, we need another member with XP x64 installed to test so we have another to compare to.
Mine shows all blue.

Anyone else with XP x64 please test the release and report any errors

The only 'other' still black that I listed is KB924667 - is this not an either/or sutuation for many? Something about remote code execution between this KB and another (which I don't remember).

XP Pro x64 w/SP2

Windows XP x64 - Critical Updates

KB2481109 - black - check mark WTF? - checked the APM

[DetectionFile]
FilePath=windows:\SysWOW
FileName=mstscax.dll
FileVersion=6.0.6001.22815

changed to:

[DetectionFile]
FilePath=windows:\SysWOW64 <----
FileName=mstscax.dll
FileVersion=6.0.6001.22815

now is blue.

KB982381 - black - check mark > next > installed > finished.

Re-started Autopatcher > KB982381 still black - why? Don't know. Opened Autopatcher.log - searched on KB982381 - did not find; searched registry - not found; Microsoft Update > item not shown as required; Google search - links to Microsoft saying this item has been replaced by a newer update - have no idea which one did the replacing.

Dumb me...let off the 64 will fix that and will send 982381 to file file heaven.
Thanks for that DesertJerry...must be going blind after going through so much reading..

Will update shortly and reupload to dropbox.

More information found regarding KB982381..this update replaced KB980182 and KB983458 and from further reading this update has not been superseded in x64.

Apm repaired and script updated.Uploaded to dropbox so we are ready to go.

@DesertJerry regarding KB982381 check in windows\ie8updates and see if the update is there.The update is cumulative so not deleted from my script

@Whatacrock

XP Pro x64 w/SP2

\Windows\IE8updates contains:

KB982632-IE8
KB2618444-IE8
KB2675157-IE8
KB2699988-IE8

that's it.

Later the same evening 20 Jul

Booted #1 system to XP Pro x64 w/SP2

Ran batch file to get updates.

Windows XP Pro x64 - Critical Updates

KB924667 - black - no check - same reason as earlier
KB982381 - black - check - fails install - mentioned earlier

All others - blue

Windows XP x64 - Non-Critical Updates
All blue

Windows XP x64 - Component Updates
PowerShell1.0 v2 - black - not checked - not going to be installed
Other two items blue

Booted #2 system to XP Pro x64 w/SP2

Ran batch file to get updates. (Be advised that there were a few updates in black when this system was run yesterday and they were selected and installed - most turned blue.)

Windows XP Pro x64 - Critical Updates
KB924667 - black - no check - same reason as earlier
KB982381 - black - check - fails install - mentioned earlier

KB2695962 - black - check - fails install - Checked APM - MD5 hash did not match - did not opt to change because same item was listed in blue on #1 system - why different?

KB2699988 - black - check - fails install - checked APM - catroot location checked - kb2699988 not there - have no idea why.
All others blue

Windows XP x64 - Non-Critical Updates

KB935552 - black - no check - fails install - checked APM - catroot location checked - kb935552 not there - have no idea why

All other blue

Windows XP x64 - Component Updates
PowerShell1.0 v2 - black - not checked - not going to be installed
Other two items blue

\Windows\IE8updates
KB971961-IE8
KB976662-IE8
KB981332-IE8
KB982381-IE8
KB982632-IE8
KB2183461-IE8
KB2360131-IE8
KB2416400-IE8
KB2482017-IE8
KB2497640-IE8
KB2510531-IE8
KB2530548-IE8
KB2544521-IE8
KB2559049-IE8
KB2586448-IE8
KB2618444-IE8
KB2632503-IE8
KB2647516-IE8
KB2675157-IE8

I am assuming the difference in \IE8updatesbetween this system and #1 system is that #2 system had XP Pro x64 w/SP2 installed much earlier than #1 and IE8 was installed quite a while after the operating system itself was installed where #1 system had IE8 slipstreamed into the install source.

@Whatacrock--- Your comment "...one you have 982381" above, stopped me for a minute - I am keeping my results from #1 system and #2 system separate when I add them here, or anywhere, so, to prevent future whats???!!! - if I post from #1 or #2 please keep me straight by asking/commenting about the specific system; thanks.

Later same day:

#1 system XP Pro x64 w/SP2

Ran batch file to update.

Windows XP x64 - Critical Updates
KB924667 - black - no check - no -v2 - no change from previous
KB982381 - black - check mark - no change from previous
KB2481109 - black - check mark - no change from previous
Everything else - blue

Windows XP x64 - Non-Critical Updates
All blue

Windows XP x64 - Component Updates
As previous - no change

After doing some research throughout the day I have updated the script and removed superseded apms.The latest script and critical have been uploaded to my dropbox so please give it a go..

@DesertJerry you were correct with kb982381 was superseded by kb27299988 and latest incantation of the script reflects this.
Am still looking into the other updates and will continue this over the next few days(I believe there are more superseded updates in the current script)

As usual please report any findings

#1 XP Pro x64 w/SP2

Downloaded batch > Started AutoPatcher

Windows XP x64 - Critical Updates
KB924667 - black - no check mark
KB2481109 - black - check mark - 64 still missing - still pulling out your hair over this one? - I edited the APM here - now all but KB924667 are blue

Also, I just had to do it, I edited KB924667-v2-x64-ENU.apm

from
[General]
Title=Security Update for Windows XP x64 Edition (KB924667)

To
[General]
Title=Security Update for Windows XP x64 Edition (KB924667-v2)

Listing now shows with the -v2

No changes in Non-Critical or Component Updates

Just noticed - no listing for the Malicious Software Removal Tool v4.10 anywhere - big mistake!!!

Thanks for the report DesertJerry...have amended those comical typo errors and updated my dropbox.
MSRT 4.10 is a common module and as such is handled by another script...need to switch your releases list back to autopatcher releases.list for it..
Still looking into kb924667-v2 but no success so far....have you tried installing it from autopatcher or by manually installing directly from the file.
Please let me know..

I thought this one was part of an either/or situation having to do with remote code excution - forget the KB number of the other item. Anyway, having one negates the requirement for having the other - that's why KB924667-v2 fails to install here - go back and look at some of our earlier postings; I think Viro-Man made mention of it.

Later - #1 XP Pro x64 w/SP2

Batch file > Started AutoPatcher > NO check marks at all for Windows XP Pro x64 - opened listing and items as previously - no problems now.

#1 XP Pro x64 w/SP2

Ran batch . Started AutoPatcher > Windows XP x64

No Check marks.

Selected - Critical Updates, - Non-Critical Updates, - Component Updates - all blue except for Component Updates > PowerShell 1.0 v2 - I will not install this item, have no need.

Now the question becomes: Microsoft Windows - Critical Updates - the following are black and have check marks:
Microsoft Internet Explorer - Critical Updates
Windows Media Player - Critical Updates
Security Update for Windows XP and Server 2003 x64 Edition (KB936021)
XMP Patch For Windows Imaging (KB954708)
Update for Root Certificates 04/2012 (KB931125)

The first two - critical updates have no submenu or items listed - so why?

For KB936021 - could not find an APM so why is it listed?

Next two - are they valid? I have no idea.

MRT 4.10 listed blue - so that is correct.

It seems that you have multiple releases in your autopatcher, and by the looks one is Windows XP SP3 x86.
This would account for the directories under Microsoft Windows - Critical Updates ie Microsoft Internet Explorer and Windows Madia Player - critical updates.
The XMP patch for Windows Imaging and update for Root Certificates are part of Win XP X86 not from Windows XP x64.

As for Security Update for Windows XP and Server 2003 x64 I have no idea why is listed and no apm file associated with it.,

There is a changing of the guard for autopatcher as you may or may not beware of...the new autpatcher/apup is being incorporated into one program and so each OS will be displayed in its own folder....so far my Windows XP x64 and the dotnet releases are ready for the change and the others will follow suit as time permits the maintainers.
Hope this clarifies the current look of your autopatcher
Cheers

XP Pro x64 w/SP2

When AutoPatcher is run from within other versions of Windows the user is provided a "List of available items" that includes Windows XP x64 updates - which is totally unnecessary.

Suggest the windows_xp_x64.apm be changed from:

[OperatingSystem]
WindowsVersion=ANY
SystemLanguage=ANY

to:

[OperatingSystem]
WindowsVersion=XP_X64
SystemLanguage=ANY

which will result in those updates not being presented to a non-XP Pro x64 user.

I have AutoPatcher in one folder that includes all of the updates, etc for all of the versions presently installed on my systems. Therefore, no matter which operating system I boot into AutoPatcher is updated and available. I asked about this months ago and the answer, I believe from Cristiano, was that this should not cause major problems - which has not happened. It's just a bit odd that empty items appear and I've been trying to look at the various APMs to try to determine if a change could be made to stop this from happening.

I am aware of the ongoing work to improve/update/enhance AutoPatcher and APUP and have been waiting for testable results.

So I finally got to use my computer for a bit and here are the results.

I used your new script to download the updates and attempt an install. 3 files failed to install 1 was not listed. Inspecting them showed the same typo in each one. Here are the files the lines and the corrections.

File: IE8-KB2699988-x64-ENU.apm
Line: "Module:\IE8-WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB2699988-x64-ENU.exe" /quiet /no restart
Change to: "Module:\IE8-WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB2699988-x64-ENU.exe" /quiet /norestart

File: KB2685939-x64-ENU.apm
Line: "Module:\WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB2685939-x64-ENU.exe" /quiet /no restart
Change to: "Module:\WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB2685939-x64-ENU.exe" /quiet /norestart

File: KB2709162-x64-ENU.apm
Line: "Module:\WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB2709162-x64-ENU.exe" /quiet /no restart
Change to: "Module:\WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB2709162-x64-ENU.exe" /quiet /norestart

Missing APM in the list:
File: KB2655992-x64-ENU.apm
Line: ParentID=WINDOWS_XP_X64_X64_CRITICAL_PARENT
Change to: ParentID=WINDOWS_XP_X64_CRITICAL_PARENT
Line: Critical=
Change to: Critical=True

Other Errors:
The first 3 apms above don't have the files listed in the script to be downloaded or checked... they are just included in the zip.
