APUP Freezing while updating

I know this bug was already reported, but I was thinking about a possible fix. What if you stored the choices from the main window where you select what to download, and then refresh the page? Then it would begin downloading once again. Your total percent would be off continuously but It would stop it from freezing. The only problem is it freezes from anywhere between 11 Mb downloaded to 40 MB downloaded...just an idea.

One they get some other bugs worked out, it shouldn't be that hard to implement a timeout feature which would give an option to retry the download if not data was received in the last x seconds.
Edit: Question for the AP team, what programming language do you create apup in? (C++, VB, etc.)
