I just installed and ran apup, selected and downloaded everything associated with Windows XP then ran autopatcher on a clean Windows install. After the reboot I checked the M$ update site and I still needed 75 high priority updates … did I miss something? I figured the program may not get the latest patches but some of the missing updates are from 2007.

Hi Red Rocker...
You can look on the hotfix depot page to see whats included in the XP x86 release,
XP x86 Hotfix Depot
You could use a tool like WinUpdatesList to verify all the updates that are installed on your system,
WinUpdatesList
and compare the list from Microsoft. I don't think there are 75 missing updates, at least not critical.
If there is something you think is important missing from AutoPatcher please post the update info here
and one of the development team members will offer an opinion.
Mike
I have to get more sleep - I meant XP x86 (32-bit)

Okay I think I found out why I’m having problems:
Q: Does AutoPatcher work with systems without the latest service pack?
A: Yes and No! Yes, AutoPatcher will run on the system. However, because the releases are aimed at the latest Service Packs, many things included will not be available for installation, and many updates will be missing that would otherwise be installed by the latest Service Pack. We strongly advise you to install the latest Service Pack.
I thought that Autopatcher downloaded all available updates but according to the FAQ it only downloads those not included in the service packs. Is it possible to get Autopatcher to download all of the available patches and updates to bring a sp2 machine up to date? I have come across many situations where I cannot install sp3 but I still need the critical updates that are available to those that choose not to install sp3.
Thanks!

yes and no. it's possible if you have the download links and are willing to build the script. no, because there's too many updates to deal with sp2 and sp3 and it's very easy lost track of what you need and what you don't need. in this last category, also comes all the superseed updates and sp3 superseeds a lot of updates that fits to sp2. since that, ms doesn't update the infos for those updates anymore and it will just say "superseed by sp3". so, even if an update that was superseed by sp3 have another version, you most probably will not know that. given so, you can imagine the issue...

for those that have an agreement with microsoft, they still support sp2. but that is only up to them, because those updates aren't public.
sorry pal, there's nothing that we can do for sp2 anymore
