Hi unknown...
It does sound like a website issue or your internet connection.

1. is there any resume/timeout/auto-retry function for auto-patcher?
2. how can i provide a patch file for autopatcher? (i.e. i download the patch manually to put it in some folder, etc.)
1. No. APUP will only resume
from the beginning of the file it was having trouble with, and
You will have to re-run APUP again to do this.
2. Re-run APUP and resume downloading the Vista release. Before you hit Finish (or exit APUP), look for the Vista script in the temp_bin folder,
in the "APUP" directory, "
copy" the script somewhere so you can open it with notepad.
Look for your file in the script, pay attention to the "DownloadFrom=" and "DownloadTo=" lines. It is a good idea to verify the checksum given.
Here's an example:
Item=Windows6.0-KB950050-x86.msu
DetectFile=autopatcher:\modules\Components\KB950050_2k8_x86.apm_files\Windows6.0-KB950050-x86.msu
