Strangely I downloaded this, installed successfully and yet Automatic Updates is prompting me to download.

If you're using Vista, try "Check for Updates" again, it was happening that the same patch gets offered via Automatic Updates, even after you've installed it manually.
Probably just some bug

because the releaser maintainer that was doing this one is away from some time ago. domenico is trying this one, but there's no an written guide to the office updates. so, he is doing that fully blindly. also yours are aware of, to grab the download links for the updates, an genuine software is required. well, my office suite is openoffice (or, in my localized version, broffice). so, i can't validate this one to grab the links or do the tests that are required. domenico has one, in italian. also, we are now an even more skeleton crew. we don't have time to update all the scripts all the time.
i know, it's sad, but we have now 4656 registered members in this forum. even more, if you count the ones that come here also guests only. and, when we ask for some help, the people just vanish. and you know, we have scripts that are updated once every couple of months only. even those, no one wanna do

I used the link above to download the SP2 package. Didn't have to verify anything. I have no clue about the scripting. Is it that hard to add a package like this one? (not questioning, just asking).

for office? do the script is very easy, you just need take the download link, md5 and write a few things. but this is true for all other scripts, except for office. the major issue with this one are the detections. there's a dozen of office flavors and due that, we can't fully rely in the detections for some updates. also, for every single script, there's an written guide. for office, i have 1.0 guide written by Erik Ramery & Lyndon Brown, but that was never updated and, so far i know, it's very, very basic. so, in my opinion, the office script is the worst one to keep. no wonder that erik was updating this one alone for several years. i can upload all that documentation, just ask. the sad part: i've tried contact erik several times already, by mail and msn. i never asked to him back, because i know that he had reasons to leave us. i've just asked for some advises and hints about something, but all that i got was silence. i will not bother him anymore, i just wish to him my best wishes and above all, he knows that still have an friend, despite his silence about everything. but due that silence, we know that we really are alone for certain things, like learn about certain detections...
