Verification Issues

Hi,

This is my first post to this forum.
I was using Autopatcher a few years ago, but have since found trouble with the "newer" version, and thus only recently tried it again.

Particularly, the trouble now is: once AP has finished downloading the updates, like SP3, there is a pop-up window (from AP) that says "one or more files failed verification. Please try to download again and... ". Then it shuts down.
I am running XP SP2. I have stayed away from SP3 until now as I get all the security updates regularly.

Is there something wrong in my system?
Is there something special about SP3 and other updates?
How can I "download" again without facing this same problem?

Thanks

sp2. the current version of autopatcher doesn't hold the sp2 updates anymore. due that, you will be required to update to sp3 before run autopatcher

> Is there something special about SP3 and other updates?
we are in lack of people. due that, we can't check all the scripts. in fact, i was updating 2 releases a few minutes ago. i still have one more issue to solve with another one, but it's an minor issue and i'm too tired to do it right now. but the main thing: without reports of broken scripts or other issues, we can't check the scripts. due that, please, post the log in here

easy. please, run apup by hitting the file hit_this_to_generate_a_log_file_for_apup.cmd or at least run apup like this: apup /log. then, please post the log of your download

another thing: due that lack of people, some scripts are seriously outdated. if you can, please download just a few scripts at once. maybe xp +.net +direct x +java, but please, not all at the same time

Hi Bluebottle...

"one or more files failed verification. Please try to download again and... ".
APUP has no say over the download links, or file sizes etc. When Microsoft changes a link or updates a file the resulting "failed verification"
error will pop up - this is really no big deal but an unfortunate way of life due to Microsoft. Like Cristiano has said, run apup.exe /log, post
the log in the proper forum (the whole log file), and someone will help troubleshoot the issue. I should point out that at times AutoPatcher/APUP
related files get updated and the verification error will pop up if the scripts don't reflect these changes.

Then it shuts down.
This shouldn't be happening. You should be able to close the error window as well APUP. The failed verification error isn't looked at as a fatal
error that should exit APUP immediately - are you sure it is shutting APUP down?

About the AutoPatcher/APUP Project.
Things are day to day at this point and who knows if the project will be around this time next month. In fact, I don't even know who is
updating what at this point. The best thing to do is run apup.exe /log in the same folder and if a script has been updated you will see the
downloads begin - if you get "Finish" or an "Error" without anything downloading, well, no new updates or, the error (in the script) has not
been addressed. What you want to see is 3 things - the Official status for the module (AutoPatcher), 0 files to download (in the log file), and
a nice "Finish" tab to close APUP (without an error message) - you will now have an up-to-date release (for the moment).

Mike :)
