the vista x64 scripts was taken offline due lack of release maintainers. if someone wishes do this ones, please state your will. but an warning: there's just a few infos about build the script, but that isn't so hard as it looks. you don't need to work with programming, nothing like that. you just need patience and time. build the script is basically routine. it's the same thing every single month: take the download link, take the size, take the md5 to check for the already downloaded file, paste the same md5 to check for the integrity of the file after the download, copy the description about the update and do the detections (that can be done by following the old modules also an template of it), compress the modules in any format and upload it to our server. it takes time and patience, just that. of course, you may require read the existent documentation about it. it may save time and mistakes

Hi there, I was using your excellent software to upgrade XP Pro, always with success. Since I upgraded to Vista x64 Ultimate I never really needed this facility. However since the new SP2 Vista update became available, there is no way I can get it to update via Windows Update - it downloads fine, then fails on the install.
So unfortunately it looks as though I arrived on the scene too late to help with the Beta testing. I would appreciate it if you do still have a beta version available for me to try, so that I stand a chance of being able to upgrade to SP2, which I feel is vital. I am sorry to hear that your hard work went unrewarded and unaided, but the truth is that despite the fact that over the past couple of years just about every new laptop came with Vista Home x64 Edition or similar, people have been slow to adapt to the 64 bit platform.

Myself however, being a musician, this is the only way that I am able to take advantage of the additional memory that a x64 bit processor allows, and the truth is that if it were not for the poor support of drivers, I am really happy with the OS. I really don't see companies being any more eager to provide drivers for Windows 7 than they were for Vista x64, and I am not about to run the risk again thank you.....

If anyone has one of the last editions of the Vista x64 AP, I would be really grateful if you would post it somewhere for me to download and try. Thanks to this site, on this very thread I believe, I managed to find out that MS recognize that there is an issue with this failure to install and have provided a Hotfix, which I will try. This and one other SP1 update are the only updates that will not install.

Thanks in advance.

David

well, update for x64 to be able to install 8gb ram? the world needs software. the same thing with dual/quad core processors. there's some software that take advantage of it, but only a few. so, move to x64 and be forced to run x32 software?

well, the x64 sp2 never was more than an beta. all the downloads was based only into ms infos regarding it and ms did an poor job into that documentation, stating that updates that was replaced/superseed wasn't. so, that script is almost useless

truth57... don't know if this will help or not....

I just had a 64bit ver of Vista come thru the shop. We tried to install SP2 Intl on it and it would go about half way then error out, stating " that there might be/was a compatibility problem with a install program/driver? that might interfer with how SP2 installed/worked. Pls check for updates and retry. yada-yada-etc. " This might also be a problem with the older WU install? If you have checked you WU lately , Microsoft just put out a Service Pak/update that addressed compatibility issues with SP2.
And, after letting it install, we retried the SP2 update again and it installed without a problem. Sorry, I'm back on a XP machine now and the Vista was already returned to customer, so can't offhand give you the exact KB#.

yes, there's an update that may be required in certain situations to allow sp2 install properly on vista. in the tests that i did, it didn't helped a bit, but most of the issues regarding sp2 are driver related. about WU or MU, i've just tried the one that is at control panel. and, at that time, none update to help on sp2 deploy was offered. but as you, i don't run vista and my contact with this OS is only when i'm fixing some machine that has it installed (and, i must say, this one is the worst that i ever saw to recover data after an major crash. even more, when the data is encripted. so, an advice: always have an backup)

As I understand it, SP2 is all the updates since SP1, so yes you do need SP1.

well, you can install sp2 straight over an sp1 redist install. plus, the sp2 covers the main updates since sp1. so no, there's no need to keep an sp1 version of the script. maybe an module to deploy sp1 and 2 (but that is too dangerous), but this is the same case than all previews OS service packs. so, no need for sp1

please guys, think: if we keep updating ancient sp versions, we could have an huge sp0 script for xp, another huge sp1 script etc...

@dkdk_it

Thank you so much for the work with Vista SP1 / SP2 English - much appreciated :D

I thought I would mention to anyone who could update the release.list, it is still showing August / September respectively for
Vista SP1 / SP2 - it may be a good time to update it to match the scripts 20091012 (assuming they are Official).
