[Fixed] Ability to download updates for non-running OS
Posted 27 May 2009 - 12:47 AM
That can't be sensible, because often the OS to be patched might not be the same as the OS running on the machine that's avaialble to get the raw modules and downloads. Of course to run Autopatcher itself it has to be on the target machine... but my routine is to download any update files on a reasonably safe machine, then transfer them to the target machine offline so the target machine is up to date before it's allowed anywhere near the internet.
What I'd like is:
* Apup updated to add a checkbox "show releases for all operating systems"
* Autopatcher updated to add a section in the list of releases for "releases not applicable to this machine" (greyed out - release name/target system) so that one can see which downloads exist but at the same time they don't distract on the current system

yes, it downloads. the only issue is that apup auto-select the proper script for the OS. then, you will be required to uncheck the xp script and check the desired script
> "show releases for all operating systems"
that is the default behavior, but the user has to select the desired script and unselect the undesired script
