Been using autopatcher a couple of years, and since its finally back I thought id try the updater. Downloaded on my desktop, and it worked great.Downloaded on my laptop, and I got a run time error.
My laptop is running TinyXP rev04 so im guessing that there are a service or two im missing.

Every idea is welcome.

Hi,

what version of apup.exe are you using? Are you running the apup.exe in a sub-directory?

where does the error occur, on startup or when you run the updates.

the error is a common vb runtime error.

[edit]
do you have the vb runtime files install on your OS.

I get the error when I try to run apup.exe.
I have the vb 6 runtime, with sp6.
Dont remember what version I had, but I just downloaded v1.0.3 and its still the same.

It's probably not a fault in apup.exe itself but in the installation of that TinyXP of yours.
I don't know the details of what would be missing from TinyXP, but it certainly seems like apup.exe links to a .dll or two that is missing (removed) from TinyXP.

I'm inclined to agree. TinyXP has been described as "using nLite a step too far"! Reputedly, the author used nLite to "make" TinyXP. For a relevant discussion see this SecGuru thread including a discussion on whether it's even legal to use it!

Well, of course using TinyXP is illegal; you're essentially using a hacked version of Windows.
...but discussing that here'd be off topic so I'll just stop right now. =)

Might just format my windows drive and use Rev06 since Autopatcher works with that ;) Thanks for the help.
