Just to let you know, OPUC4.CAB seems to last have been updated on 6/30/9.

The updates don't seem to have made it through.

I can get it to work by stuffing the script into the temp directory when apup first starts and then replacing the .apm file when complete.

Is it not installing for you or not downloading properly - a bad hash? You shouldn't need to do any of the things you mention.

Posting the script and the contents of the "apm" - Where's your log file?

I deleted "offupdate_enu.apm" and the contents of "offupdate_enu.apm_files" and then ran APUP - 3 files were needed...

Here are the log files. Should have included them with the last post. Apologies.

Before running apup:
rd /s modules\officeaddons\offupdate_enu.apm_files
del modules\officeaddons\offupdate_enu.apm
del modules\office_addons.apm
del offaddon.rti

When I run apup.exe and select the Office Addon Pack (English), I get the error shown in the first log, a file size mismatch.
Correcting the file size and updating the associated hashes (the cab and dll) fixes it.
Stuffing the temp directory with the modified files allows apup to finish error free as shown in the second log.

I just ran apup and selected the Office Addon Pack, the files downloaded fine without issue again, so I would guess your
issue has something to do with your "Stuffing the temp directory with the modified files" as you put it, and from your
expected size for OPUC4.CAB it looks like you are trying to use the old script.

I am looking at the new script and it has this info:

The fact that you are getting "File size does NOT match. Expecting 242272, but found 242274!!!" tells me you are trying to
do all your customizing with an outdated script. I am not sure exactly why you are making this so hard but I have said all I can...

Run "apup.exe /log" select Office Addon Pack and let APUP download the updated files - it really is that easy. BTW, the only reason
I deleted any files was to see if the updated script would pick up the missing files, and if the new files would match the script, and
it did for me.

Also, and more importantly, please do not post a log file with another script selected - especially "xp_sp3_x86" with all those commands
that have to be scrolled through, just post a log with the offending script, in this case "autopatcher_off_addon_enu.script".

there's more than one possibility, but also there's the webcache issue. the only one bypass to that issue that i know is reach the script himself with an browser:

and, if the file doesn't match, hit f5. it will force an refresh. if this doesn't solve, oh well..

Well, in his other thread he was able to grab "autopatcher_xp_sp3_enu_20090705.script" and in this thread he was able to grab
"autopatcher_xp_sp3_enu_20090714.script" so I would think any cache would be updated before he attempted to download an
new script to resolve his issue. Anyway...

not quite right. some webcaches don't update all files too often. due that, the releases.list file could be outdated, pointing to an obsolete version. worst than that: some are so badly done that they even reach deleted/moved files through their own cache. but of course, any other issue may happen too

As all is fine now. As others have pointed out, caching could quite likely have been to blame. My other tests were conducted much closer to the updates of the 14th and 17th. Today (+5 days since last script update) all runs through without incident.

I'm wasn't intentionally trying to use the old script, I was being given it when I ran apup /log.

As I was receiving a script containing the old file size, failure is to be expected because you are correct, OPUC4.CAB currently does have a size of 242274 bytes.

We are always glad to hear an issue was resolved and please don't feel you can't ask for help, but, come prepared. It seems
evident from your uncertainty that you are not the guy who set up the network on which you run APUP. Next time ask the guy
who maintains your network and I'm sure they could tell you at what intervals your network cache is updated, in this case it may
be between 3 to 5 days, this is the interval I would wait before asking for help (assuming it is a web cache issue).

Also, I did pass this thread off to my friend who is a senior IT manager including overseeing a large corporate network just for an
opinion of the problem and his main point was "this guy can't be the same guy who set up this network, suggest he talk to the
(installer) or a network admin if one is available - (he/she) can answer the "Whys" for the problem and the "Hows" to overcome it."

your friend may be right. around here, some IPs, to save bandwidth and sell faster connections than they can really deliver do that. but of course, this issue may be related to an local network too, who knows for sure?
