Unofficial/Unsupported Release

As a first time poster, I would like to thank the team at AutoPatcher for all of the time and effort that they put in to keep the project
going. (At the moment, that appears to be mainly Cristiano and gUiTaR_mIkE.) I've been using AutoPatcher for some time now, but
whenever errors popped up I generally just waited for others to post and the problem was soon resolved. Anyway, I just wanted to
say thanks.
On a previous Windows XP APUP folder that I've been using for a while now - when apup is run it generates no errors. However,
when AutoPatcher is run from that folder it shows as an Unofficial/Unsupported Release. In an effort to determine the possible
cause I downloaded the folder again to a different location. This time the apup log shows a couple of errors .. and likewise,
AutoPatcher shows the release Unofficial/Unsupported.
First log with no errors (I think
)
The second apup log that shows what is missing. Repeated attempts generate the same log file.
Any ideas guys? Any help is appreciated

@dfdff3000 - Welcome...
It looks as if you ran APUP on 2 different folders - F:\Autopatcher\XP.SP3 & F:\XP.SP3. For future reference always re run apup.exe /log
on the same folder so we can make sure the second run produced the same error.
Anyway, see This Post!, download xp.sp3.module.7z and run it on the release that is giving you your error, then report the files that are
missing from your release. BTW, you want the *.md5 in the 7z, verify the release, the missing files will show as "UNREADABLE". There are
2 tools listed in the post you can install if you have no md5 utility.
Note: Link referenced above was removed.

Thanks for your quick reply gUiTaR_mIkE
You are correct that I posted the logs from 2 different folders. I apologize for not being more clear. The first log was to show what I was getting from a folder that I had been using for a while that wasn't generating any apup errors. The second one was to show what I was getting from a freshly created folder. My main concern was that when running autopatcher from either folder it starts as Unofficial/Unsupported. The only reason that I downloaded the second folder was in an attempt to create an official release.
Running xp.sp3.module.7z on the first folder (F:\Autopatcher\XP.SP3) showed no files as UNREADABLE
Running xp.sp3.module.7z on the second folder (F:\XP.SP3 - again, a freshly created folder) showed
Components\WindowsDefender_x86_enu.apm_files\WindowsDefender.msi as UNREADABLE
Critical\KB890830_x86_glb.apm as UNREADABLE
Critical\KB931125_xp_x86_rootcert.apm as UNREADABLE

Followup: Your second log shows 3 files missing and only 2 to download yet you need 3 - Strange!
Also, you must have installed HashCheck so, "UNREADABLE" in most cases means "MISSING" - just some FYI.
Here are the links for all 3 files - and you can see exactly where they need to go (black is the folder / blue is the missing file).
Also, you will need to extract the apm file from each 7z file and place the apm in the given folder - not the 7z.
F:\XP.SP3\modules\Critical\KB890830_x86_glb.apm
...windows_mrt_x86_211.7z
F:\XP.SP3\modules\Critical\KB931125_xp_x86_rootcert.apm

F:\XP.SP3\modules\Components\WindowsDefender_x86_enu.apm_files\WindowsDefender.msi
...WindowsDefender.msii
After you manually place the files in their respective locations re run "apup.exe /log", see if you get the "Finish" tab and
the release is Official - please report back.

I have done as you instructed and manually placed the files in their respective locations. Things do seem strange. WindowsDefender.msi was already in F:\XP.SP3\modules\Components\WindowsDefender_x86_enu.apm_files. I let the manually downloaded version replace the one that was already in there. I forgot to check the hash before doing so though. Still, I guess that might explain the reason why apup figured there was only 2 files to download.
After manually placing files in their respective locations log now shows:
***Starting Detection Routine Phase***
Missing file F:\XP.SP3\modules\Components\WindowsDefender_x86_enu.apm_files\WindowsDefender.msi
Item WindowsDefender.msi is missing. Adding its download to the queue.
--Adding http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/d...sDefender.msi--
***Downloading Releases***
Files to be Downloaded: 0
***Processing Cleanup Routines***
Running xp.sp3.module.7z in the modules folder still shows Components\WindowsDefender_x86_enu.apm_files\WindowsDefender.msi as UNREADABLE. It shows an expected checksum but the entry for the actual checksum is blank. However, if I right-click on WindowsDefender.msi (in F:\XP.SP3\modules\Components\WindowsDefender_x86_enu.apm_files) to pull up it's properties using HashCheck then it shows a MD5 matching the expected checksum. Interesting eh?
Plus it doesn't explain why KB890830_x86_glb.apm and KB931125_xp_x86_rootcert.apm repeatedly failed to download automatically.
Not that I'm complaining. I'm still appreciating the fast responses

Run "apup.exe /log" on the F:\XP.SP3 release, this will / should correct the mistakes created by the script. The release will now
be Official. If not, create an "md5" of the \modules directory, zip it up and post it so I can run it against my Official release.
Also, thanks for the report, it helped us locate and correct a few unknown errors.

@gUiTaR_mIkE - thanks for the help and diagnosis, and you're welcome for the report
@Cristiano - thanks for the update
Unfortunately, both of my XP.SP3 folders that I had created were still showing as Unofficial. I compared the md5s for my module directories against your official one myself, in an effort to spare you the time.
With the more recent folder I had created (F:\XP.SP3), mine showed 450 files as opposed to yours showing 449. Looking deeper, when comparing yours to mine, I spotted that I had 2 instances of WindowsDefender.msi
Mine:
Components\WindowsDefender_x86_enu.apm_files\WindowsDefender.msi
Components\WindowsDefender_x86_enu.apm_x86_files\WindowsDefender.msi
Yours:
Components\WindowsDefender_x86_enu.apm_files\WindowsDefender.msi
After manually deleting Components\WindowsDefender_x86_enu.apm_x86_files\WindowsDefender.msi AutoPatcher showed as Official.
With my original XP.SP3 folder I mentioned in the first post (F:\Autopatcher\XP.SP3), It showed 451 files with 2 instances of WindowsXP-KB955069-x86-ENU
Mine:
Components\__msxml\MSXML3_enu.apm_files\WindowsXP-KB955069-x86-ENU.exe
Components\__msxml\MSXML3_ptb.apm_files\WindowsXP-KB955069-x86-ENU.exe
Yours:
Components\__msxml\MSXML3_enu.apm_files\WindowsXP-KB955069-x86-ENU.exe
And, 2 instances of WindowsXP-KB954459-x86-ENU.exe
Mine:
Components\__msxml\MSXML6SP1_enu.apm_files\WindowsXP-KB954459-x86-ENU.exe
Components\__msxml\MSXML6SP1_x86_files\WindowsXP-KB954459-x86-ENU.exe
Yours:
Components\__msxml\MSXML6SP1_enu.apm_files\WindowsXP-KB954459-x86-ENU.exe
Again, after manually deleting the folders/files that didn't match yours, the release now shows as official.
Just for the hell of it, I download a 3rd XP.SP3 folder from scratch
. The newest folder downloaded perfectly as Official.

Maybe we need to have a "Master" cleaning script that can be run and remove stray files from long ago.

yep. or at least make an rule about support old versions. the scripts are going bigger and bigger and, as time goes, the right commands do mistakes again. this one "MSXML3_ptb.apm_files" will break the ptb script for some time, but i believe that i can bypass that by changing the name for this folder in the ptb release. anyway, the scrips are being cleaned from times to times

apparent - that is what I have been told.
And yes, you have discovered another rogue folder / file. The fact that I don't have it as a stray leads me to believe that the script had
the correct removal of the old name but must have been removed from the script before you had updated this usb release - had it been
a while since you updated this usb location, just wondering?
Your location - Critical\KB938127_xp_x86_enu.apm_files\IE7-WindowsXP-KB938127-v2-x86-ENU.exe - notice how it differs from...
PreAction=xcopy /y /e /i
..from...\modules\Critical\KB938127_IE7_xp_x86_enu.apm_files
...to....\modules\Critical\__MSIE_critical\KB938127_IE7_xp_x86_enu.apm_files
...then remove the old folder
PreAction=rmdir /S /Q \modules\Critical\KB938127_IE7_xp_x86_enu.apm_files
It looks like we need to add a new line to the script...
...PreAction=rmdir /S /Q \modules\Critical\KB938127_xp_x86_enu.apm_files
BTW, did you check to make sure there isn't a stray "KB938127_xp_x86_enu.apm" in the "\modules\Critical" folder?
Followup: In fact the script did have the removal command in it.
...from the script -> "autopatcher_xp_sp3_enu_20090621.script"
.....PreAction=rmdir /S /Q "autopatcher:\modules\Critical\KB938127_xp_x86_enu.apm_files"
but the command was removed from "autopatcher_xp_sp3_enu_20090624.script"

This is good example of when a "Master Cleaner" script would come in handy. The main script keeps the "removal" commands for
a short time but, when they are deleted from the most recent script (assuming the user has run apup.exe recently) any "removal"
commands are placed in the "Master Cleaner" script - each release would have it's own "Master Cleaner".
If it has been more than a few weeks since the user has run apup.exe, running the "Master Cleaner" script on the release first is
the recommended "First Step" on any release that has been neglected (for lack of a better term). Then the user would update the
release as normal by selecting the appropriate script from within APUP.

done. i've added those commands into the enu script:

so, if the user has the folder, it will be copied to the new location and then removed from his wrong location. the command "move" doesn't work for long paths (and this is only one of the ancient bugs already found and never fixed, just bypassed, with this command that i've never tried before with apup)
