64bit support

Im sure the Autopatcher team has saved countless hours of unnecessarily wasted time downloading and waiting.
I read on the front welcome page that 64 bit was no longer suported. But is the way of the future as 32bit will be slowly phased out.
Have you guys thought of running 64bit OS ie Vista, XP within VMWare Workstation and testing it in there. It will rovide all the hardware wupport you need and no need to buy new hardware.
Just a thought

VMWare said:
...Revision D or later of AMD Athlon 64, Opteron, Turion 64, and Sempron
...Intel Pentium 4, Core 2, and Xeon processors with EM64T and Intel Virtualization Technology
If I'm missing something please point me to the documentation. I would love to install my XP x64 OS in VMWare (on my x86 system).

Don't worry about space I am going to increase it soon. Recently my 500 GB HDD conked.

I have Unlimited Internet Usage Plan - Speed - Day (384Kbps download/upload) & Night (1 Mbps download/ 784 Kbps Upload)
I would be Happy to provide support for all 64-bit OS you used to support and would like to keep x64 project alive.
Don't expect immediate support for all of them. First, on test basis I would like to go through how this patching system works and would like to have guidance on it. On that basis I'll divide the time required for each OS on monthly basis. Then, I would let you know how many and which OS I can actually support with full commitment.
I will test all the OS using virtualization only. If it's critical, I won't mind installing it physically.
Keep up the good work ![]()

well, it's missing some infos, but the basic for it is written in here. of course, that guide doesn't say that some preactions are broken or partially broken (and some are, but i didn't a full list of the failed and the situations where the partially broken preactions fail. but i do know that the ren command doesn't woks all times and that is the reason why i'm choosing xcopy instead). well, please, take a good reading of that documentation. for an x64 script, it seems right now very easy to do an script, because the advent of sp2.

It may seem weird as I have come up with something after everything is decided and posted on the site. Sorry for that as, I didn't check the news related to AutoPatcher for few months.

basically? the whole thing. the good thing is that most of the updates for x64 are the same than x32, just in x64 version. so, an start is take an full update list that the x32 version has and choose the modules as template. then, there's the script. an start is take a look into the existent documentation about apup/autopatcher, that may help in the process. so please, take a look on this
it's lacking some infos, like the commands that doesn't work well with apup (like ren. but xcopy and rmdir works pretty fine), but that isn't an problem at all
sorry about my late on answer. it's past 11pm in here and i've just arrived at home, with 2 notebooks to fix... and one of then is already running seven x64...

we had a few months ago an vista x64 script. one user started, then quit and i did it for a couple of months. if that guy didn't fixed the issues that the script had, you will find yourself in trouble. another problem: do the modules is the easy thing. the tricky part comes with the download links and you may be unable to know if that guy has the latest version for the kbs or not. also, i have an story about F-Secure (when they still had datafellows in their name) and an guy named Sami... they still own me an t-shirt
> is there some kind of list so i can organize this mess somehow?
i've tried once. no way. but it may help if you have an full list of updates and the proper order to install each one of them
about the internet speed, it helps to download the modules, but once we had one team member that had dial-up. at my job, i have now an 15MB (still unstable) IC, but we are going to 100MB in a couple of weeks. i just hope that they fix that nasty proxy until that. but the major problem is time, not download speed. but of course, you could do a dozen of download tests without any worry. to me, it takes a couple of hours...

> i am running a full retail ultimate not some cracked junk
cracked version doesn't work for this. first of all, to download certain updates you need validate your windows. of course, you need install the modules to test it and i bet that those that like viruses doesn't install everything
of course, you may require the script. that can be reached from here and following the scripts
it's kinda easy, but this take time...

oh... that link has to be followed in order to get the full script (or take the .script file from the temp folder that apup creates). in the first way, in the releases.list file, you have to look for Script= and then look for the script that is aiming the one that will works as an template. in this case, vista x32. then, you take the link that is under Script= and set it in your browser and save the file. of course, you may do it from the temp folder as well, but then you may be forced to download the whole script)
> about detecting?
well, most of the updates deploy an .cat file. taking Security Update for Windows Vista (KB950974) as an template, this one deploy an .cat file with his name under windows:\system32\CatRoot\{F750E6C3-38EE-11D1-85E5-00C04FC295EE}. then, you need go to that folder and take the file name for the .cat file. in this case, Package_for_KB950974~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~6.0.1.0.cat. the ~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~6.0.1.0.cat may change from an update to another one, but each update has KB950974 or another kb number on it. so, windows search may help.
for vista, there's no need for md5 detections, except maybe in certain cases. you may require an .md5 tool as well, at least for the compressed modules. hashtab may help a lot with it, since it works by right-clicking the desired file.
oh well, now, update the xp scripts. i can't believe that i'm finally in peace
