Hello all

I downloaded latest apup.zip and unpacked it under windows "program files (x86)" / "Autopatcher", after that I ran "apup.exe" and then Autopatcher Updater automatically marked first two boxes (AutoPatcher Updater 1.0.5 + AutoPatcher Engine 5.6.81) to be downloaded. Then ran "autopatcher.exe", it made the connection, checked license boxes twice and after that the (autopatcher + autopatcher engine) loaded modules ok, confirmed release integrity ok and then killed it self on last stage loading folder structure and simply said that you have loaded wrong release.

So, I can't fix it or run it differently, am I doing something wrong or is this something that appears to all of you who tries to run it for XP x64?

There is no AutoPatcher for x64 - it died months ago - which you would be aware of if you had read through he postings.

All right, this was the easy way to get this answer, I just didn't want to read hundreds and hundreds topic related answers.

Is it terminated for eternity or what?

OK, if there are no more Autopatcher for XP x64, can you still download updates from somewhere here at Autopatcher site?

no. but the current team members doesn't have the hardware nor the software to run x64. due that, we can't do an decent x64 script, because we will be unable to test it. but, if someone is willing to join the team...

my friend, i don't see any reason to lie about it. but not everybody update his own machines very often, you know. in any case, this is the machine that i'm running right now, according to my licensed version of everest 4.6:

the power supply is an TT W0008R and the hd is an seagate 250GB SATA 2 (working as SATA 1, because the motherboard doesn't have support for SATA 2)

my spare machine is almost the same one, but the processor is from another family and the same with the motherboard. the vga card is an GeForce 5200 (if so, because the usage that i have for this machine is also an multimedia center only) and the HD that my spare machine has is an PATA seagate 120GB. of course, my spare machine just have an power surge protection, nothing more. if you wish, i can take those expects too.

and, by the way, i don't have any reason to replace those machines in a short time, because the usage that i have for booth doesn't require state of the art machines. as for the other guys, they say that they don't have the hardware and the software. i don't have any reason to doubt that

but of course, those that have the hardware and the software are welcome to do the script, but there's an basic pre-requisite: the OS must be genuine. booth of my machines are running oem versions of win xp and booth are genuine. if i look into my stuff, i'm sure that i will find my other 3 licenses for the same OS

I am running Windows XP Pro x64 w/SP2 on it and Win7 RC 64-bit.

The issue as I see it concerning 'testing' AutoPatcher scripts is what does that entail? I have no experience with 'scripts' and as far as I know you have no manuals or guides that an interested person could use.

oh well, there's this. it is very basic, but it works. still, update the scripts isn't so hard. basically, all that you have to do is take the download link, size and md5 and do an module for it. since a lot of updates work in the same way, all that someone needs to do is take an already existent module, make a copy of it and replace the relevant infos.

as for the issues with x64, besides the 2 major issues, there's the time for update all those scripts. speaking for myself only, i can't find any time for another script anymore and even my girlfriend is complaining about my free time. and she is right. i don't have any :-(

Did a quick review of the info therein - will have to read more closely later to decide if understanding could be easily achieved or if the project is not extremely time consuming.

Wife/girlfriend issues not applicable, am divorced and being retired provides plenty of time. Issue is project complexity and/or overall time consumption and/or worth of project as WinXP Pro x64 is, basically, obsolete and Win7 64-bit is on its way.

well, to build one release from scratch, time can be an problem. but it can be done, one update at a time

about windows seven, yep. i've read something about the ones that helped on the beta stages of seven win a copy of it, but the news wasn't clear about everybody or just the invited ones. i'm sure that i will not run seven in a short time, but the license could help (at least in here, you almost have to sell a kidney to buy an retail version). but until there, i will keep running xp. at least, 90% or more of the machines that i had to fix last year was still running xp (and the reason for that isn't that vista is immune to viruses/users/power surges)

The Win7 32-bit and 64-bit release candidates are free downloads from the Microsft web site and can be downloaded until 20 August. The 32-bit is 2.5Gb and 64-bit is 3.5Gb so you better have a high-speed connection.

I've been running both versions for over a month. The release candidates will not expire until, I think, March or April of 2010 so you will habe plenty of time to use/play with them.

I have seen no postings or comments anywhere that would prohibit you form downloading them even though you are outside the US or Europe.

or patience. i've already have the rc versions since some time ago, since i did some tests with vista rc. but several years ago, when i was learning something about linux, i've downloaded an distro that had 5 cds at dial-up. patience is an wonderful thing... but my machines barely are able to run it

and isn't. you can download it from here, win the license until march 2010 (after that reboots every 2 hours). but to anyone that wishes this one, run. the download will end at august 20th. except for the issue "autopatcher doesn't recognize seven rc", it may work. but the news that i've read are about an full license, not the beta/rc ones. well, i'm sure that they will not deliver it for Brazil, so...

because the detections doesn't look for the OS. please, try take a look under windows folder, for an file named autopatcher.log. in that file, it's written everything that autopatcher is able to detect from your machine. if you can, please post that log in here. it's plain text
