Recently started having problems with APUP - log file:

When AutoPatcher for Office 2003 selected I get a error box about script problems. Have to use Ctrl-Alt-Del then TaskManger to close updater.

Tried moving all scripts out of AutoPatcher folder and tried again - same error message; so I'm doing something wrong or APUP is reading stuff from where?

If i do not select AutoPatcher for Office 2003 APUP runs as expected. So, what is screewed up here?

this isn't an issue from your side. long, long ago, we started an process to move all the files from our root, in order to have the house in order, each file in his own folder, to allow the releaser update only one script at a time and avoiding mess with working releases. but this was almost one year ago. then, we moved those files to another place. also an temporary measure, i've moved that mess again into our root, allowing you reach that file again. if possible, we will look if someone is updating those scripts and ask to move those files from root, as was already requested one year ago

same issue on my side:

maybe fix the apup.exe, so that it does not crash when it can't find a script, and report to logfile,
that script are missing

This issue with the Office 2003 script is now fixed.

No longer getting script errors - but problem has changed considerably. Info follows.

Have two systems: #1 XP Pro w/SP3 and Office Pro 2003 w/SP3 and #2 XP Pro w/SP3 and Office XP Pro w/SP3.

So when I run APUP then Autopatcher I expect only minor differences beteen the two.

Tonight ran APUP on #2 system and scripts and necessary updates were downloaded and I ran AutoPatcher to verify downloads and needed updates. So far so good.

Ran APUP on #1 system and it was very different. Releases selected > Fetching window appeared > Fetching apup.script ... and bar was filled left to right with little blocks and Checking with www.autopatcher.com... appeared. Lower down 129.6KiB/s -- 0:00)-02 remaining appeared.

Nothing was fetched. Lower bar box was empty - no little thermometer boxes going from left to right appeared but Finish button went from grey to black. How did this happen? Clicked Finish.

Tried again only opted to create log file.

Same options selected as above. Only difference was amount read 112.5 KiB/s. No Fetching occured, no left to right little boxes and Finish button went from grey to black. Clicked Finish.

Have no idea as to what may be causing the problem(s).

Sounds like a visual (on-screen) glitch rather than anything serious. If it happens all the time, then I may be wrong. However, your log indicates you are up-to-date with nothing new downloaded.

If it's visual then it's happened the last few times I ran APUP.

The only thing I can do is to wait for a week or two for updates to come out and try again and see what the response is.

Jut ran APUP seeing as Silverlight was updated - script and downloads worked as expected so the error mentioned above appears to be fixed.
