i make an optimized xp sp2 os using nlite and rvm
then i run uiu big bang universal imaging utility ver 3, and sysprep
uiu removes all hardware related registry entries
adds a driver datablase
and resets the hal layer to a post xp setup state
uiu v 3 does not seem run on sp3 xp, if anyone knows how to run uiu v-3 on an xp sp3 os let me know how..
so far my master image is sp2 only
it is hardware independant
can be deployed to almost any older hardware conig/chipset
in 5 minutes flat
with software preinstalled
almost always finds all drivers
never a bsod (well, once out of 200 tests)
no installation cd required
no user intervention
done deal
except i am limited to sp2
---------------------------------------
i need a workaround to update the preinstalled master uiu os to sp3
without booting it up
becasue if i do boot it up, sysprep runs and configures the drivers
and then it is no longer a master
i need to figure out...a...
command line to integrate sp3 into a slave drive operating system
instructions on how to autopatch the xp os without booting it
help on how to run uiu v3 on a sp3 xp os
Autopatch a xp OS that is not booted up to, eg" a slave drive

Using your optimized XP w/SP2 CD as the source copy it to a folder (XP w/SP2) on your harddrive. If you don't have a copy Google AutoStreamer and download it; also download the complete XP SP3 file: WindowsXP-KB936929-SP3-x86.exe (300+MB). Start AutoStreamer and follow the prompts to integrate the SP3 download with the copy of your optimized XP w/SP2. AutoStreamer will do the integrating/slipstreaming and create an ISO file which you can then use as the source to burn a new XP w/SP3 CD optimized.
As far as I know AutoStreamer should not do any more than integrate/slipstream, all your 'optimizing' should still be intact which is up to you to check/verify.

let me try again
i need to figure out how to integrate sp3 into or autopatch an xp pro sp2 installation
that is on a hard drive, not on a cd
without booting it up
------------------------------
i do not use a cd after i make the master image
so slipstreaming isnt really going to help
i am unable to make a master image with sp3
sp2 only so far
i am using a reinstalled hardware independent
xp sp2 master operating system
ON A HARD DRIVE to rapid deploy xp to my machines in 5 minutes flat
it does not blue screen when booted up in any system/hardware congig
it saves hours of time each time i use it
but once booted up is no longer a master image
i need to integrate sp3 into it while it is not booted up
if at all possible
eg as "a slave"
or over a network boot
or another workaround
