You can follow These Download Instructions!

Note: There are 2 small updates to this procedure...

01: You will need to create the folder first, keeping it simple -> C:\AutoPatcher or C:\APUP, then extract the contents of the downloaded zip file to
the new folder. The location and name can be your choice but keep it simple and don't bury the folder deep inside a bunch of subfolders.

02: You can also double-click the "hit this" cmd file to run apup.exe with logging activated (the log will be in the new folder you created).

The rest of the steps still apply.

It is possible to mix xp SP3 with java and directX for example

Sure, the Addons and Extras modules work fine with XP SP3 (or any other OS), when you need to be careful is with mixing OS service packs, like
with Vista SP1 and Vista SP2 (I think SP1 has been dropped). Also, be careful of the various Office releases, I recommend keeping them separate.

Update to the procedure.

I must admit I don't like inconsistency - it is difficult when things get changed and then you wind up looking stupid.

Case Being - the stupid apup.zip - for the longest time it would create a \apup folder, I updated it in July keeping the
extraction process unchanged - it gets updated again in August and no longer creates a \apup folder rather extracts the
contents openly (you better have created a folder ahead of time). So, as you can see I updated the procedure above, hoping
to help newcomers - but to my amazement once again the extraction process is changed back (it should have never changed.

Point Being: For now it looks as if the apup.zip when extracted will create a \apup zip folder so you no longer need to.
