Does AutoPatcher need to have both of the following:

Update of Internet Explorer 8 Compatibility View List for Windows XP (KB969497)
Update of Internet Explorer 8 Compatibility View List for Windows XP (KB973874)

More importantly, why are the following duplicates shown:

Did some more digging on the above and noticed that I had the following on my system under \modules\Components

JournalViewer_x86.apm
JournalViewer_x86_enu.apm

KB958655_xp_x86.apm
KB958655_xp_x86_enu.apm

UserProfileHiveCleanup.apm
UserProfileHiveCleanup_enu.apm

Deleted them, re-ran AutoPatcher Update and it downloaded the above files without the enu....

This fixed the problem.

well, a couple of months ago, the scripts was adjusted to have the same structure and modules for all languages. if i'm not mistaken, some of the dupped files that you have was replaced and you may have lost the replacements window (about 2 months for each change). at this point, the script still may be adjusted, but we need to know when was your last and previews update date an do that by hand. but the easiest way is download again

I also seem to have:

\modules\Components\journalviewer_enu_files
\modules\Components\JournalViewer_x86.apm_files

with the same file in them

So I deleted \modules\Components\journalviewer_enu_files

Recently, I mistakenly selected SP2 Addon Pack for Office 2007 for update but only realised the next day that this was an Italian release. Deleted all the files with ita in them but not sure I got rid of everything. Made this error because I find the release names a bit confusing.

Wish I could delete my AP folder and start over.. but with slow connection, that is just not feasible. Any other way of checking to see if I have unnecessary files?

@klymax

I'm on dialup so I know about slow connections! What you could do is "Copy" (not Move) the modules folder for the release
that is giving you problems, run APUP to begin assembling the new release, let APUP create the folders and begin to download
the updates, then you can move back the complete file from the copied \modules directory over to the new directory, you
will likely need the script (see below) to keep track. I would let APUP download the small files like the apm files and small
updates.

You could also get the script from the temp_bin folder (created when you start apup.exe) and try to assemble the new release
from the script but it really does go fast using the "Copy" method because you only have to usually move up one folder to
paste the complete file in the new directory - try it and you will see what I mean, I have done it so I know it can be done.

What I did was use search and deleted all the .apm files and let the update re-download those... then I deleted all directories for which there wasn't a matching .apm file.... e.g. I found that all the WMP10 and WMP11 files were now in sub-directories and as a result I had duplicates.

Another time I will try your method or just delete everything below a certain size.

That sounds like a good way as well, you just need to make sure that the script your running is Official and when
your done the release is official as well.

I assume everything I run apup.exe it will download updated scripts.. I ran this a few times and I'm still getting unofficial/unsupported release... running autopatcher.exe /log doesn't create a log and I can't track down the problem.

@klymax

Not every release is Official at the moment - Windows 2000 SP4 English, Vista SP1(x86) All, and I'm even having troubles with
XP SP3(x86), I do believe most of the releases are Official, but some are outdated ie: Office 2003.

Do you have more than one release in the same \modules folder meaning, did you select multiple OSs or any other items or is it
a single OS giving you trouble? To see exactly how many releases you have in the same folder -> start autopatcher.exe, when it
loads the releases, click About - click Release Info. You will see details about the release, please post the details given from your
findings - look here - Release Status Details! All the information given is needed so don't leave anything out - Please provide the
given details for all 4 categories.

The AutoPatcher log can be found in C:\Windows (or I:\Windows etc), but you want to run apup.exe /log, you can do this by running
the "hit_this" file to start apup.exe with logging or you can create a shortcut, regardless launch APUP with logging - apup.exe /log,
the log file will be in your AutoPatcher / APUP main directory next to the executables.

true. i've found an rogue file at my side. i will stay looking for more issues before sign the xp enu script again. also, there's an way to make autopatcher show more infos about the release: just run it like this: autopatcher /verbose . then, at windows folder, you will see an log. i did that and i didn't liked. there's infos related even to the tweaks

sorry, i can't see your image due our corporate firewall. yes, i'm aware of an huge list at autopatcher.log, but i'm still investigating the cause of this issue, because even in a clean download of autopatcher enu script, things like this shows up:
UNOFFICIAL: File 'D:\Temp\modules\Tweaks\__Speed\SpeedUpIE_x86_files\Undo_SpeedUpIE.apf' was found, but not mentioned by any RTI!

and, so far i know, the tweaks are in the same place since ages ago. it may be tricky, but i will track this issue. tonight, if possible, because there's too much restrictions to bypass in here to allow autopatcher works properly. but also i've said, track dupes is kinda tricky, but can be done by hand, by checking the md5 from booth folders. i'm unable to run hksfv from here, so i did that checks with Portable RekSFV 1.5.0. so please, download that tool (it's very small, only 500K) and check with the file attached to this post, please. if possible, make the same check into the folder that you have for apup. but please note that this was made to autopatcher enu only

The Screenshot basically states that the following are unofficial:

SP1 Addon Pack for Office 2007 - English
Windows XP SP3 English

I did the check you suggested and found this as the only error:

10/22/2009 4:16:29 PM: - ERROR - (150/550) File WindowsUpdateAgent_x86_788.apm Could Not Be Found! Expected Checksum: 44BDEB4B1C69D87C3DB645DD1537D21F

Re-ran apup.exe and it didn't download this file.

for sure. this file wasn't supposed to be in there. but the weird thing is that this file is at my the folder where i did the download test. worst of it, there's an command to remove that file since # 2009-09-27. but when i start to dig something, i really dig. so, i've tracked down this issue as related to windows_xp_sp3_enu_components_20090630.7z. this file has inside of it WindowsUpdateAgent_x86_788.apm, that is creating this issue until an next run of the script, where the file was deleted. so, i've rebuilded windows_xp_sp3_enu_components to remove that file once for all and now the release shall be showing as official again. if not, please try the file attached to this post again to match for something else. if you have all those files, then you have an file that wasn't supposed to be in there and, to fix this issue, i need that you make that same check with the entire content of your apup folder, ok?

thanks

Yes, this fixed the XP SP3 release. Thanks.

The Office SP1 Addon is still unofficial/unsupported.

that is a little bit more complicated to fix. i don't run any ms office since many years and i don't have any version where i could check for missing updates or flaws in the modules installation. due that, i'm unable to do this script. also we are short of people, Domenico was keeping this one, the vista scripts and also the xp ita scripts. a few days ago, i've wrote an mail to him, to tell some good news and i've received an very sad one in return: he had an bike accident. we wrote the mail from the hospital and, according to him, he only can deal with one arm and must stay in there for sometime. according to him, something about 8 weeks. bike accidents us to be bad or very bad. i should know that, because i drive one too and, last year, i've broke an bone from my right arm in a very, very, very stupid accident. well, i believe that you can imagine the picture. after 8 weeks lying in a bed or with some part of your body without any activity during that time, that part of your body becomes week and needs recovery. he said that will try update the releases from his bed, but honestly, i hope that he don't do that and let his body recover in peace. at his point, his full recovery if far more important than keep any release. but during that time, their scripts may be unofficial

well, Domenico was doing the office 2k7, but he was overloaded too. he runs an forum in Italy as admin and this may take a great deal of his time. if anyone can help with that, great. also, we are short of people since long ago. some users has joined the team, a few weeks ago, as developers. one is porting the apup code to add proxy and redirected links and the other one is expending a great deal of time fixing ancient flaws in apup. the current version of apup, by instance, was made by him. as currently only Frank can add users into autopatcher team group, they are working and keeping their status as normal users. one of them is Antony, as yours can see in one topic about this new version. the other one asked to only join the team in fact after show some progress. but hey, the downloader engine is highly integrated into the code and this may take some time... so, anyone can help in the way that can do :)
