hi, i'm using 2 OS to download the patches for XP. 1st i use SP2 to download the patches it shows on the updater 300+mb and now i'm using SP3 to download the patches it only have 200+mb so meaning the updater will detect what updates is missing on the OS? or it will download every updates and let the user to choose? sry i'm new to this thing hope can get some help n guide from here? thank you

Hi adanoob,

I doesn't matter what OS you are running to download the release - it depends on the script you selected to download. I have to guess at a few things,
like what version of XP you are downloading, the English version is roughly 250MB, I don't know about the Italian or Brazilian versions.

Did you start the download then stop part way thru, the script will pick up where you stopped, so, if it started with 300MB total, you stopped APUP
after downloading 100MB, yes, you will have 200MB left. I hope you didn't start with English then switch to Brazil mid way thru? Like I said details
here please.

It is real helpful when more details are offered, also, I'm not exactly sure how these 3 versions coexist so I would say don't put English, Brazil, and
Italian versions in the same folder. I hope someone who knows more will offer better advice as to if this is possible without conflict (3 languages).

My advice, select one OS language, also the AutoPatcher Engine and AutoPatcher Updater (the native OS, Updater and Engine will be selected by default),
let the download finish. If I'm not mistaken all 3 releases are Official - Brazil, English, and Italian.

hi mike, actually i downloaded it with 2 different PCs and the language chosen was the same as the previous one. now i'm having an error message
"Division by zero
in prjUpdater.mdlDownloader.processDownloadQueue at line 120"

and it wont disappear after i click "OK" pls help me out with this...

Which is what? I can guess it's English because you didn't post in the International forum, but I would be guessing.

You didn't say what language version you selected so a download size cant be determined but I would guess it would be similiar to XP SP3 English.

Anyway, Cristiano can handle this, he's more familiar with the other XP versions.

@Mike: the ptb script has the .nets and extras for xp built in. it has about 600MB. i'm unsure about the ita script. the enu script only has about 230MB

sry for the confusion... yup i was downloading the english version. so if the download is complete will it keep on overwriting the files that i downloaded previously?

No, the only time new files should be downloaded is when the script has been updated or if a file is not verifying (failed verification error).

If by chance you are having issues with the new beta apup.exe (the same files being redownloaded) you might want to go back a version.

If so:
...Rename existing apup.exe to apup.exe.bak (accept the changes when you are given the warning).

...Download and extract apup.exe v1006 to your AutoPatcher / APUP folder.

The development team is working hard on improving APUP but it is in the testing phase at the moment.

WARNING:
I forgot to mention, if you look at the selections screen when you run apup.exe (v1006), it will have 3 selections already
made for you - AutoPatcher Updater 1.1, AutoPatcher Engine 5.6.81, and your installed OS - notice AutoPatcher Updater 1.1,
this will need to be unchecked every time you run apup.exe otherwise it will overwrite apup.exe (v1006) and replace it with
apup.exe v1.1.

Until the script is updated to offer v1006 again or v1.1 is fixed, just keep this in mind - uncheck AutoPatcher Updater v1.1.

ok i think i'll need to use the v1006 after i complete the download i try to start the apup.exe and there are still alot of patches i need to download but after download it, it shows a message box asking wanna overwrite the files or not... and i always stuck at "fetching VB6.0-KB290887-X86.exe from download.microsoft.com..." then the (failed verification error) appears.

If I was you, I would stop your download and replace apup.exe otherwise you will get unnecessary error messages.

If after replacing apup.exe v1.1 with apup.exe v1.0.0.6, and finishing your download, you are still having problems (it isn't uncommon)
please post a log file. The log created with v1006 is more accurate at the moment, and you can run apup.exe with logging by clicking the
"hit_this" file.

Please heed the warning in post #7 (overwritting apup.exe).

In case you may be unfamiliar with posting a log file - here's a short example

ok thank you and what about the autopatcher engine? need to uncheck also? ok last question from me after i completed the XP SP3 i just have to run autopatcher.exe and it will detects all the updates that my os needs? currently i'm using sp2 so after installing all the patches my sp2 will be sp3? sry i ask this is becoz i'm away from the pc that i wanna install the updates.

No, this is OK to leave checked - these are the files related to autopatcher.exe

Yes, the updates that are not installed should be selected for installation in AutoPatcher. I would not try to install EVERYTHING selected
in AutoPatcher (assuming you are way behind in updating), rather I would install a few at a time - maybe Crtitcal only first and so on.

This is my approach, others may allow AutoPatcher to install 40 or 50 at one time - not me - it is your call.

No, AutoPatcher wont install a service pack rather it assumes that service pack 3 is already installed. There are updates that work for SP2
and SP3, they should be selected for you to install. If an update is only designed to install on SP3 it shouldn't appear in your AutoPatcher
release (it will be downloaded but wont load when you run AutoPatcher), those *.apm files have detection criteria written into them that will
determine what files (updates) load when you run AutoPatcher.

If you should want to install Service Pack 3 for Windows XP - here is what many people use - Service Pack 3 For XP (x86) Network Installation Package

Note: Instead of having to uncheck AutoPatcher Updater 1.1 every time, you may want to leave apup.exe (v1.1) in your folder, and rename v1.0.0.6,
this will allow both executables to coexist - you cant have 2 files both named apup.exe, and the file you need for now will keep getting deleted.

The instructions took longer to write than actually performing the task - maybe 90 seconds was all it took to rename v1.0.0.6 and create a shortcut,
add the "/log", and move the shortcut somewhere convenient. If you're interested - Read Here!

We try to avoid discussions of this nature (cracks, warez, illegal copies and so on), the best I can say is if you are unsure you may want to test the
install in a virtual machine. Install the virtual machine, then your OS (from said disc), and then update the OS to SP3 using the network installer.

Note: The network installer is nothing more than a single executable you download (which makes it reusable) and run offline, it's not like Windows Update
or Microsoft Update where you need an internet connection to install. Beware, the file is large - 300+ Megs.
