I noticed some updates marked Nov. 4 so I ran the new APUP to pick up the changes and I get the following error multiple times toward the end of the download while processing apup.exe.zip. (see attachment)

If I run APUP 1.1 again, it repeatedly downloads the same files with the same errors at the end. I thought APUP was only supposed to download files that have been updated. I left the standard three selections checked and additionally checked Extras and JAVA.

I don't understand why selected files are being downloaded each time even though they are identical.

APUP log follows:

I reported a similar problem, btw, did you notice if all the supposed missing files that get downloaded again and again are of an archive type,
*.7z, *.zip, even a few self extractors ie: *.exe. If you're not sure use the script, some of the *.exe files are actually an archive.

I think the new curl is parsing the script incorrectly and wants to redownload an archive when the files it should check first are the files
extracted from the archive - this was the trouble I had all day yesterday.

the extras script was updated a few minutes ago and i've just finished an download test. it seems ok. i'm going to the download test for the java script now. the error that you seems to have is related to the apup update. it may happen sometimes, because the file that you are trying to update is in use. in about 12 minutes the java download will finish. if ok, then i will try the same 3 scripts than you, but this will take several hours to complete

edit: test done with the java 17. it seems ok

edit2: test done with apup 1.0.0.6 beeing updated by apup 1.1. no issue at all

going to download all enu scripts at once, just to test. but this one will take several hours to complete

The problem I was having was after I extracted bigjoe714's update to my test folder, and it has nothing to due with a file being used, apup.exe
wanted to download files from an already Official and complete Extras release. It should have scanned the folder and determined all files were
present, instead it would over and over again download only files of an archive type - I posted the list in the PM, it was roughly about 10MB
every time - and the same files - it should have known zero files were needed.

Previously when I ran the old APUP it did not repeatedly update itself if the files were current. This was also true for other selections. Has this changed?

Also, looking at the log I see about 203 'missing' statements, but only 39 files selected for download. Is the old APUP still available so that I can make some comparisons?

yes, apup 1.0.0.6 is still available. you can download it from here. just extract the file in the same folder where apup is. the .exe name wasn't changed. so, if you wanna do some comparisons, just rename one or booth of them

just please, put the entire comparison in here, to allow us track issues with the .exe himself and fix it

thanks

Got back Monday from my trip/drive California to Florida and back for my 50th high school reunion (5,313 mile drive roundtrip).

Stopped in here to see what was happening and opted to run the APUP I had. Checked appropriate boxes and downloads commenced - no problems occured and new APUP downloaded and installed.

Quick check done and things appeared to be correct.

Have to catch up on mail, magazines, newspapers, etc so that will also take a while but I'll check back soon to add further comments where applicable.

Congrats on your 50th - sounds exciting. BTW, what part of Florida, I spent a few years in Tampa - 80' to 82'.

Your lucky, for most of us the update (v1.1) is having troubles parsing the scripts and wants to redownload files over and over, in fact,
it can't even determine my release is Official and Complete and will download about 10 megs repeatedly and throw off error messages.

Here's another minor glitch you might want to refine. See attachment.

I think script application error pop-ups should be avoided. Instead, a more meaningful message
such as "no entries selected" or "file in use" etc. would be less confusing. In this case
I ran APUP 1.1 and unchecked everything. The log is okay though. Pop-up occurred twice
during processing.

I graduated high school in Titusville, Florida - just west of Cape Canaveral.

I was stationed at Eglin AFB Jan '72 to Jun '73.

***Starting Detection Routine Phase***

Item Windows AddOns Parent Module is missing. Adding its download to the queue.
--Adding http://www.autopatch...ws_addons.apm--

It would be interesting to know if the logic being used in APUP 1.1 to determine
if a file is missing or not, is the same logic used in 1.0.0.6. I would think md5 hash
value detection would be sufficient to tell if a file is missing or if there is a file
hash mismatch.

If any of the developers feel like sending me a debug version of the two APUPs,
I can run some tests for you if you want. I happen to have a system where APUP 1.1 does
not work correctly.

the issue isn't related to the detection of the files, nor is related to the extraction of the modules. i did an mistake and had an prove that apup is doing the md5 check, but for some reason, it is ignoring it to compressed files. i've passed that infos to the developers, but they work for free and it may take sometime to fix. also, the issue is now minimized to less than 1mb. so please, calm down. this issue will be fixed soon, don't worry
