I've looked through as much documentation as I could, but nowhere does it explain what "official" means. I see it talked about here and there in the forum, but nobody explains what it means exactly. It's not in the help, the F.A.Q., in the forum (that I found, kinda annoying I had to register to search). Is it right under my nose and I'm just not seeing it?
So.....what does it mean? From what I can gather, is that there was some detection error on the computer or something and it downloaded files that may or may not be superseded?? I don't know....
What I do know is that I downloaded all the XP SP3 (20091213) updates on using a Vista machine to run AutoPatcher and it says the XP SP3 is unofficial.
I clicked a button and now it seems like all the patches are installing. So....what does this mean, what did it do and why is there no explanation anywhere about this (at least easily found)?
p.s. I love the idea behind the program. I'm very glad you guys are out there doing this as it is/will be a great help. I've been following it for probably a few years now (even before the the whole Microsoft legal issue a while back), but just never used it because it was too archaic (IMO). Now, it seems like it is somewhat straight forward and easier to use so I would really like to get into it now.
Am I missing something?

So, I got a couple of errors. The first one was when I was syncing the files... it said something about verification not matching up on the file apengine_ri_0711.7z. The second error was when I was installing the patches on the XP machine and it said "The NTVDM CPU has encoutered an illegal instruction". I clicked ignore twice and now the program is stuck installing Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool v3.1 (KB890830) at 99% done, 88% overall.
*edit: I killed the NTDVM process and it resumed installing the patches.

apengine_rti_0711.7z link is alive. it could be related to an delay on answer
KB890830 is v3.2 since last week.
about the official/unofficial, the idea behind it is check for the integrity of the release, to ensure that the files that you have wasn't tempered in any way. if something is wrong, it shows as unofficial. if is everything ok, it shows as official. due your "i'm downloading xp sp3 from a machine running vista" and KB890830 3.1, i guess that you let the vista script checked when downloading the xp sp3 script. please, don't mix scripts. the vista release maintainer had an bike accident a few weeks ago and is recovering from the injuries. due that, he is unable to update the scripts very often and due that the vista script may be outdated for some time
one idea: ignore the folders that you have and download again, selecting xp sp3 script and unselecting the vista script. then everything shall be ok
