Hi Folks,
I am very frustrated by Autpatcher 1.2 not installing every selected update after many trials and investigations. I always got the same results. Here's the list:
- critical updates (971961,974455,976325,954154,976749)
-recommended (WMP11) (939683,928788,929773,933547,932390,929399v2,935552,935551,939201,944882)
-Others (925168,975364)
-updated components (.net2 sp2,.net3 sp2,.net3.5 sp1,961118,958655v2)
Finally I checked the aaf file and noticed that the aboves updates were never been present in that file even I selected all.
Why is that? Am i doing somewhere in the process wrong?
Thanks folks!

we need more details about your system. by instance, is sp3 installed in your system? if is, windows installer 4.5 is already installed? do you have admin rights? are you running autopatcher from...? by the way: autopatcher is v 5.6. apup is v 1.2. autopatcher acts also an front end to deploy the updates. apup just download the required updates
> Finally I checked the aaf file and noticed that the aboves updates were never been present in that file even I selected all.
the answers file isn't auto-updated to match the new modules. the answers file is to be used when you have to deploy the same settings over several machines, but when new updates are releases, you have to update that answers file too.

Thank you very much Cristiano for your quick reply. First I'd like to apologize for not returning your call as soon as I could. My system is Windows XP Pro SP3. I integrated SP2 then SP3 in a clean and untouched Windows XP Pro with the help of nLite 1.4.9.1. yes, i have full admin rights. I am using the latest version of Autopatcher 5.6.0.81, apup 1.2 I recently downloaded from your site. Everytime i downloaded the new updates required or not I always made sure to update the aaf file. I've always selected them all. Windows Installer 4.5 was being installed as well by apup. Any info you need from me? Thanks, Cristiano.

the aaf file isn't updated by us, this is an user option. all that you have to do in order to update that file is ignore it in a first run, made your selections and then save the aaf file again
so, let's see:
971961: this one was replaced by 5.8 version some time ago (KB971961). if you have this last one, the obsolete one will not be installed.
KB974455 was replaced by KB976325. if you have this last one, the obsolete one will not be installed.
i didn't checked the other ones, but: your autopatcher is showing as official? some updates that you have pointed as not installing have an removal set in the script since some time ago. as you still have the old ones (that will not be installed over an newer version), the other ones may be in the same situation. can you please check if your autopatcher is showing as official or not? if not, we need check for the obsolete ones to remove them from your autopatcher folder. then the updates shall be applied without worries

Hi Cristiano, I finally got apup to work enough properly I mean to download every update selected (do not ask me how did I solve it becuase I have no clue how it happened..) except the critical updates you mentionned in the previous post. I understood your point of view and I will try to figure out how to deal with it. I am thinking about getting rid of the old ones first. Any suggestions from your side?
Thanks for your great help Cristiano and Merry Christmas!!!.

are you talking about the old updates? there's 2 ways of do that. the first one is remove the entire modules folder, but this may mean an big download. the 2nd one is more painful, but works. you need take an recursive md5 from your modules folder (hksfv will do that fine). then, we need match your md5 with an folder with the same scripts than you have. with your md5, a lot of "should not be in there" files and folders will show up at our side, allowing point the obsolete ones and allowing you to remove just the old ones without download everything again
about xmas, mine will be cooking, in a place without any computer and where cell phones barely work (and i'm thinking about turn it off). that's my idea of peace
merry xmas to yours too
