I have tried downloading the program, and it zips through in under a minute, then does nothing, I have checked Program Files and it hasn't been installed.

So I read the FAQs and it told me to use an account with non-alphanumeric characters, which I did. But still the same thing happens!!

Hi cdw-1989...

not exactly sure what you've done but setup is pretty easy, maybe the following link should help...

...How To Download / Run APUP

If you still have problems, please explain exactly what you've done and the problems encountered.

BTW, if you downloaded the zip file, you need to extract it and run apup.exe etc - the link should explain.

Ok, I did that and it got a little further, but it's saying I downloaded the wrong release.

I'm running Windows Xp professional 64 if that helps

Well, that would explain it, there are no x64 OS releases as of yet. What AutoPatcher release did you download?

Q: Does AutoPatcher work with 64bit or XP-MCE systems?
A: Yes, as of February 2007 we have 64-bit releases for Windows XP / Server 2003. As of May 2007 we now have an addon pack containing Windows XP MCE 2005 updates, you can add this addon pack to the main AutoPatcher for Windows XP (32-bit) release.

It says there that there is.

I downloaded the release on the download page, v1.2

How in the world do you think a 1MB zip file is an update package for XP x64, it is a small setup file to get you started but I guess
you didn't read the post in the link I provided - it explains exactly how to get APUP going. The XP SP3 x86 package is roughly 260
MB as an example.

If you would have followed my directions, when you ran apup.exe you would see the available releases - none are x64.

Also, you mentioned the notice posted Feb. 2007 - 3 yrs ago, we worked our butts off trying to get someone with an x64 OS to do
a script - we tried and tried, people started but then simply vanished - what do you expect us to do, btw, there was a beta being
worked on at the time of the post you referenced but sadly it never made it to prime time.

You might look into ct offline update, I believe they have x64 OS packages.

I doubt you will be interested but here is a notice as to why there are no x64 scripts available...x64 Scripts

Also, there will be a Windows 7 x86 and x64 package eventually. You know, there is a lot of info on these forums on how to build
a custom release for yourself, if you felt up to it, and I believe there is a list of x64 updates posted in the Windows 2000 SP4
forums, why, I don't know, the users was supposed to get back with a list of 2K patches but we got a list for XP x64 - go figure.

...Here's the XP x64 updates list - Jan 2010

No I didn't think the 1MB was an update package, I think it was a program that you downloaded the updates with, I did noticed that none were x64, but with the FAQ section saying that there were, is very misleading, and maybe the site should be updated.

@cdw-1989, thanks for the reminder. that page was with obsolete it, so i've updated to this:
Q: Does AutoPatcher work with 64bit or XP-MCE systems?
A: Yes, the code for apup and autopatcher.exe works with booth. Also, booth apup.exe and AutoPatcher.exe are always subject of improvements, to add support to new OS's. But just remember one thing: support it doesn't mean that we have an script for an specific OS. Given time, OS's and releaser managers come and go. So, there's no guarantee that we always will have an script for any OS in the world forever, but we also don't remove support for detection just because we don't have the OS anymore. So, the executables will keep working, but we may not have an script for it. For an up-to-date list of releases, please run apup and check the list. If your OS isn't listed in there, sorry, but we may not have the OS anymore and due that we can't keep it. But if you think that can help becoming an release manager as well, please contact us in the foruns.

> Also, there will be a Windows 7 x86 and x64 package eventually
it's already online in beta mode :D we are just making some improvements to apup and autopatcher and tracking minor issues with booth. but will not take longer
