My mother has XP and uses dial up so download really not an option.

On my computer, I used AutoPatcher and downloaded all the updates. I ran AutoPatcher multiple times on her computer as it seems some updates were dependent on others. All worked well. Thanks for the program.

I did have a few questions / comments and was hoping to get some feedback.

These items I got prompted and AutoPatcher would not continue without my interaction. Is this by design?
+ Microsoft Genuine Advantage (installer)
+ Java Script (dial up connection)
+ Net framework (I think) - (dial up connection)
+ Adobe Reader 9.3 (installer)

Even though I installed/uninstalled these items, AutoPatcher said they weren't installed (they were still black in the list)
+ Power shell
+ Remove virtual machine
+ Reader 9.3 (kept going into maintenance mode in installer after installing it.
+ All Office Addons (I'm guessing since she has Office 97 these are not applicable)
+ Reset start menu (self explanatory why kept black)

Feature suggestion. Do these capabilities exist?
+ Expand / Collapse all
+ Check all / Uncheck all Black
+ Check all / Uncheck all Blue
+ Hide all blue. There is currently a never show but it might be nice to see them latter if I want to.

Thanks

Shawn

> + Microsoft Genuine Advantage (installer)
this one doesn't have an silent mode. ms did the installer in that way and we can't do tricks to bypass that

> + Java Script (dial up connection)
????? this one is silent. i always install all modules without go online and i never found an issue like this one

> Net framework (I think) - (dial up connection)
this one had an problem like that long ago, that only happen with non-english users. the problem is related to the module only. now, we are forcing english as default language and due that, no more problems. so please, be sure that you have an up-to-dated version of this module

> Adobe Reader 9.3 (installer)
there's no need to go online with this one. and, to be true, with none of those. please, just check one thing: at control panel, internet options, connections, check if is checked always dial. if is, change that to "never dial" and try again

> + Power shell
can you please try install this one by hand just once to be sure that is an detection issue?

> + Remove virtual machine
i've removed this long ago from some releases. it doesn't work with the versions that doesn't have msvm

> + Reader 9.3 (kept going into maintenance mode in installer after installing it.
try remove the old versions first. sometimes, damaged old versions do that

> + All Office Addons (I'm guessing since she has Office 97 these are not applicable)
i'm not sure if those work for office 97

> + Expand / Collapse all
in certain scripts, no. long, long ago, someone was insisting to set AutoExpand=False to everything. in the ptb release, only the shared modules are in that way. so, if you check the + button, it will expand, one at a time. do it 4-5 times and everything is expanded

> + Check all / Uncheck all Black
those features are present, by command line

> + Check all / Uncheck all Blue
same

> + Hide all blue. There is currently a never show but it might be nice to see them latter if I want to.

Thank you very much. Here is some feedback.

Java Script / Net framework - Maybe I missed read what was being installed at the time I saw the dial up dialog. Next time, I can disable the automatic dial up and see what happens. I was using that latest version of AutoPatcher as of last Thursday.

Adobe - I will uninstall and try again. I'm guessing bad install with Reader. It possible she may not of had Adobe installed or maybe a very old version.

I read through the command line options. Is there some examples of using an answer file, checking all black items, etc. that I can review.

Is there a listing of known program you can't bypass like the Microsoft Genuine Advantage (installer). That way I can uncheck these until last so AutoPatcher doesn't stop waiting on me for the ones that do require intervention.

Thanks

Shawn

only the wga related updates has that odd behavior. they are listed apart of the critical/non critical updates

Thank you. I think with the other changes and excluding WGA that should automate it completely.
