Upasaka's Photo Upasaka 26 Mar 2010

I am a new comer, my question is if I checked all listed items to download or some mixed languages and OSs, would the script smart enough to know which package is respectively right for my system (let's say I have mixed(languages and OSs) system)?
Thanks!

I don't know about languages but I do know you can select different operating systems when you run APUP and then run AUTOPATCHER from within each operating system. AUTOPATCHER will 'know' which oprating system you are running it from.

I have XP Pro w/SP3, XP Pro x64 w/SP2, Win7 32-bit, and Win7 64-bit in separate partitions and when I boot into each one and run Autopatcher it successfully detects the running operating system.

Some one else may have the answer about languages for you. :blink:

yes. every single module has this:
WindowsVersion=2K_SP4,XP_SP2_X86,XP_SP3_X86,2K3_SP1_X86,2K3_SP2_X86,VISTA
with this setting, the module will load only on those OS. if you have an module with this setting and has this one mixed with seven and is running autopatcher under seven, then this module will not be showed

> SystemLanguage=1046
with this, the module will load only in 1046 lcid (brazilian portuguese). if, by instance, you are running autopatcher under another language, like english (lcid=1033), then this module will not load. but please notice that certain modules are common under several OS and languages. those will load anyway

those certainly answered my question and concerned. Thanks!
by the way, are there going to be more scripts for servers in the near future?

well, in a near future, no. the problem about build an script to update something is that isn't only take the download links, pick file detections, etc, you have to test the script to be sure that the detections work and be sure that the updates applies. right now, we don't have any server OS to work with. without that...

Re: Cristiano #5
The reason that I am asking is I saw the w2k sp4 and w2k3 Italian version on the list, currently I am interesting the English version more than any thing else.

one suggestion about the forum, can it turn on/off the mail alert of the replies feature? so people could know when their post has to be answered. B)

domenico has those versions in italian, but he is a lot overloaded with the xp ita/vista/seven updates and also the office updates. in order to test an english version, an english OS is required

yes. take a look to the top right of the board. in there, you will find an "your profile" link. press that button and you will find an drop down menu, with an "my settings". follow this one. under "Your Options", follow "Forums" and check "Watch every topic I reply to" and choose an notify option :)
