Error as soon as apup is started

hello all,
as soon as I start apup 1.3.0.1 the following error appears:
---------------------------
Application Error
---------------------------
Invalid file name or file number
in prjUpdater.mdlGeneral.createPath at line 114
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
Beware that apup is started here from the network using an UNC path:
\\FILESERVER\Software\Windows\Autopatcher
If I start it from a local folder there is no error. It seems that it doesn't like to be launched from the network (UNC path).
After having clicked on the OK button in the error message it seems that all works fine.
Regards
Salvatore
Update:
mmmmh, no: After having selected what to download the same error pops out several times in a row (always from the network).
Then I've tried from a local folder. No more errors at startup, but after having selected what to download and after download is started from a few seconds, this new error pops out:
---------------------------
Application Error
---------------------------
Overflow
in prjUpdater.mdlDownloader.processDownloadQueue at line 173
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
To be noticed that this error pops out at every new item downloaded and always when the progress bar of the current item has reached 100%.
As it is (for now), apup is unusable, sorry.
If it could be of any help, I'm using XP SP3 with the latest updates.
Regards again
Salvatore
