======
I have a Windows Vista on Dell Inspiron.
Since last few months, I am unable to start scheduler, see windows events, download windows updates.
Tried playing with the services but that didn't help resolve.
Then tried AutoPatcher, but got this error.
Can someone please help?
Thanks,

Go here: http://bbs.blackviper.com/index.php and check out Black Viper's extensive list on services and what should be disabled.
As far as AutoPatcher and verification failed the usual procedure is to run APUP again and let it try to finish/verify the downloads. Then run AutoPatcher itself - it will usually start and give you a list even if there were some failures.

Unfortunately I'm getting the same problem too. Running Windows7 Ultimate, x86. Fails with "Fetching windows_xp_sp3_enu_critical_20100616.7z from www.autopatcher.com Fetched 8082 from 8082.
Log file attached. From my understanding it looks like there was a problem with the Microsoft Download Manager?
When I click ok I then get "Permission denied in prjUpdater.frmMain.Form_Unload at line 106
Incidentally, if we're not allowed to upload .log files, would it be worth changing the filename of the log to apuplog.txt?

microsoft download manager is in deed an dead link and i didn't found any valid download link for this one. the page where this one was published is also dead. so, right now my guess is that ms has removed this one due some reason. so, no other option than remove this one in here too. that will be done tonight
