Hi. I was wondering if winnt.sif is needed in I386 folder of XP installation disk to be functional? Can I remove it? The reason is that I have licensed VLK but the original disk is damaged. I obtained a XP disk from a friend but his version is unattended with a retail key. So after installation, I had to replace the retail with my VLK. Also, there are several unattended settings which I don't like. Would appreciate any input. Thanks.

There is no winnt.sif in the I386 directory on the retail installation CD for XP. You don't need it, but the install will no longer be unattended.
