I too receive the error message:
"One or more files has failed verification. Please re-run AutoPatcher Updater. If the problem persists, please report to the forums at AutoPatcher.com."

I followed the advice of one of the forum members and after running apup.exe a second time, I ran autopatcher.exe which appears to have correctly updated many things, but re-running apup.exe still results in the above error message. I am new to autopatcher. When I discovered that running hit_this_to_generate_a_log_file_for_apup.cmd rans apur.exe and generats a log, I found that a few items were being resolved with subsequent runs. The log finally stabilized with the following errors unresolved:

ok, no hurry.

I have run apup again (Aug 3). the wmp 10/11 problem has gone, the download ran ok and the md5's checked ok and the files all reported true, however my autopatcher is still "unofficial".

Here is a new MD5 for the whole folder:-

my friend, the content of that log was too big to fit in a post and due that the md5 file doesn't work. can you please attach the file instead? the attach option can be reached in the option "use full editor" and the file must be compressed in 7z, zip or rar formats

thanks

@joon joon: if i'm not mistaken, you are downloading vista sp1. this one seems that isn't being updated since 20100209. if i'm not mistaken, this release will no longer be updated, because vista is sp2 already, but i will ask domenico if this one is being updated and, if not, i will ask if this one can be already removed due lack of maintenance

@gondwana: your files seems to be out of date. this was the list of the files that didn't matched:

G:\check\adobe_reader_EN-US.rti
G:\check\apup.exe.old
G:\check\apup.ini
G:\check\apup.log
G:\check\directx.rti
G:\check\dotnet.rti
G:\check\extras.rti
G:\check\java_jre.rti
G:\check\xp_sp3_enu.rti
G:\check\modules\AddOns\javajre_x86.apm
G:\check\modules\AddOns\NetworkMonitor.apm_files\NM33_x86.exe
G:\check\modules\AddOns\SunJava_x86_files\jre-6u18-windows-i586-s.exe

forget about .rti files, because those files wasn't present in the check folder. but still, there's some issues, like NM33_x86.exe (this one is already v3.4). so please, run apup again, check direct x, extras, dotnet and the main xp enu script to update your local folder. then, please check with the attached file

oh yes, please delete java_jre.rti, modules\AddOns\javajre_x86.apm, modules\AddOns\SunJava_x86_files\jre-6u18-windows-i586-s.exe and modules\AddOns\NetworkMonitor.apm_files\NM33_x86.exe. you may require download and extract the content of this file as well. if your local version still shows as unofficial, please attach another md5 checksum, taken after the updates

i see.. i've been trying to upgrade to sp2 though.. so should i just run the sp2 stuff??
Quote

Cristiano's Photo Cristiano 05 Aug 2010

yep. if the OS already have sp2 deployed, then the sp2 script is required only (except maybe KB947821, that is v9 by now. but even this one is required to do the preparations for sp2 only). if not, is far faster download the installer for sp2, deploy and then update the system with the sp2 updates than update sp1, deploy sp2 and then deploy the updates for sp2

the sp2 script will remove the files related to the sp1 script

your issue is related to those files:
windows-kb890830-v3.4.exe
Windows6.0-KB973917-x86.msu
word2007-kb974631-fullfile-x86-glb.exe

the first 2 issues are easy to solve: download the vista sp2 script instead the sp1 version that you are selecting. the sp1 version was supposed to be online for an short time, not forever. at August 30, 2010 ms will drop vista sp-1 support. autopatcher was supposed to support only the current service pack level. vista is now sp2, so... an inquiry was made to the releaser manager of vista sp1, to be sure if this one can be discontinued. but since this one is without any maintenance since 20100209, i guess that this one will be discontinued soon.

as word2007-kb974631-fullfile-x86-glb.exe, the issue was reported in here and the releaser manager was informed about. so, soon an fix will arrive for this issue

Thanks Cristiano,
I have followed your instructions and now have an "official" autopatcher except for the jre which I could not get to work. I have attached a new md5 which seems to show no significant difference other than the jre. I am happy with this since the jre updates itself anyway. Oh the nm34 was there, just the 33 had not been deleted.

You're log file from post #33 shows 13 major scripts selected - you're likely choking the hell out of APUP, try selecting only one main script at a time, let it finish - do this for each major script. The first 2 selections can remain selected ('apup' and 'apengine').

You say you're getting errors even when you select only one script, if you could, post a log file of only that failing script in the appropriate forum so someone can have a look. Start APUP, select each script from the list in post #33 - One At A Time - see if APUP can finish it, if not, post a log in the appropriate forum. Do this for each release you are trying to download. Right now you have 300+ files missing. You will want to run AutoPatcher and check the 'Release Info' to confirm that the release is Official.

Start AutoPatcher - click 'About' - click "Release Info', the 'Title' in Red and False under 'Official' is the failing script. Now, I would bet most if not all are failing.

> except for the jre which I could not get to work
this one is complicated, because SUN has changed his download system and now apup doesn't work anymore to download java. so, you have to manually do it. first, choose the version that you wish:

javax64

javax86

taking the x86 version as an sample, download this and save in autopatcher folder. now, select javax86.zip, right-click and then "extract here". you have modules\AddOns\SunJava_x86_files folder. now, browse to this url and do like in the images:

keep in mind that jre-6u21-windows-i586.exe shall be saved under modules\AddOns\SunJava_x86_files folder

the same thing is valid also for the x64 version, with the proper changes

@gondwana

Just a note here, I can see Cristiano has posted already but I will post anyway. Cristiano's directions are simpler but both ways work - do as you see fit.

I know it seems a bit confusing but I think you can get it done. If you want to try maybe this will help...

See this post! - follow the appropriate links for the version of Java you need. Download either the x86 or x64 version .zip file, and follow the JRE 6u21 link and get the java version you need.

Let's assume you are running x86, you should have 'javax86.zip' and 'jre-6u21-windows-i586.exe' in your \downloads folder, let's work in this folder.

Extract the .zip file. You will want to 'move' 1 folder, 1 .apm file, and 1 .rti file to your Official \apup folder - but first have a look at what was extracted...

\modules\AddOns\SunJava_x86_files <---- the SunJava folder you need
\modules\AddOns\javajre_x86.apm <---- the java.apm file you need as well
and a lone file -> java_jre.rti <---- your java.rti file to make your release Official

OK, when ready highlight SunJava_x86_files and javajre_x86.apm - and 'move' to apup\modules\AddOns\ in your Official apup folder.

Now, go to your Official \apup folder in Windows Explorer - click \modules - click \AddOns. It is in the \AddOns subdirectory that you want to 'find' the new 'SunJava' folder and java.apm file - if you see them the 'move' was a success... This is what you should see - 1 new folder and 1 new .apm...

apup\modules\AddOns\SunJava_x86_files
apup\modules\AddOns\javajre_x86.apm

OK, you added a new folder to \AddOns, located java.apm to \AddOns, now, move 'jre-6u21-windows-i586.exe' to the java folder - apup\modules\AddOns\SunJava_x86_files

Finally, 'move' java_jre.rti to \apup - the folder with all the other .rti files, 'apup.exe' and 'autopatcher.exe'.

If the files are good and you moved everything correctly the Java release should be Official. You can now delete the \modules folder from your downloads directory. To confirm, start AutoPatcher - click 'About' - click 'Release Info' - you want to see Java Official.
