Whenever I start to run autopatcher I get the following message

runtime-error 429 activex component can't create object

I have looked through this forum and see nothing addressing this issue and
google has a lot of topics but no fixes that I can see.
Does anyone have any experience with this issue and a fix?

where are you running autopatcher from? do you have the autopatcher.log file that is located under windir\autopatcher.log? do you have details about your OS, service pack level/anti-virus? this may help a lot

running xp pro sp2 log file will not come up downloaded AP from major geeks antivirus is up to date

Not a good idea, that release is old and that form of distribution is illegal - MajorGeeks should know better. Do they have distributon rights or something, anyway...

I would get rid of that asap and start fresh - read this post to get going. If you still can't get things worked out post in the appropriate forum - XP in the XP forums, Vista in the Vista forums etc. Don't choke APUP by trying to download all the releases you want in one run - get the OS you use completed, then move on and add a new release, success??? - then add another.

Poonia, we are having troubles with our image posting. I moved your image to a tmp folder. The image will be deleted when we get things sorted out.



Have you read the AutoPatcher FAQ! - specifically;

Common Problems and Solutions
==>> 1) Run time error 429 - activeX component can't create object!
.... Install both the setup files in AutoPatcher's \win9xnt folder
.... If that doesn't work, go to start > run, type REGSVR32 SCRRUN.DLL and press enter
.... If that doesn't work, copy files from C:\Program Files\AutoPatcher\bin to C:\Windows\System32

You can skip the first suggestion, the folder should be gone. The last suggestion, the folder is \bin. You will want to make sure any of the *.ocx files are properly located and registered. I would go one file at a time, see if AutoPatcher will load. Keep track of any changes you will make (before hand) so you can put things back together.

Also, and I'm not positive but it wouldn't hurt and that is to make sure you have WSH (Windows Script Host) installed. I believe the latest for XP SP3 is 5.7. I never got a solid 'yes' or 'no' from anyone but I think AutoPatcher may have WSH as a dependency as well - again, not sure????

i have copied all .dll and .ocx files from C:\Program Files\AutoPatcher\bin to C:\Windows\System32 folder but nothing changed? :-(
