AutoStreamer won't take service packs

healer's Photo healer 07 Sep 2010

No matter what I did the AutoStreamer wouldn't recognize the SP3 or SP2 I put in.

Please advise possible problems!

interesting. it worked in here. issue: you must be running the OS that you wish slipstream

about possible issues:
- you don't have the redistributable service pack for the target OS. fix: download the redistributable service packs from those locations:
Windows XP Service Pack 2 Network Installation Package for IT Professionals and Developers
Windows XP Service Pack 3 Network Installation Package for IT Professionals and Developers

save those files in short paths, like c:\autostreamer, then run autostreamer, then run it and select:
- i want to use my original windows cd [next]
- windows cd drive [locate and point i386 folder]
- service pack file [locate and point the redistributable service pack]

then, next and go ahead

It's been a while since I used AutoStreamer but a little voice says to copy the XP CD to the harddrive and use it as the source rather than depending on the CD placed in the CD drive.

it also is an good idea. at least, you will know if the media is readable or not, before the process begin

Thank you all!

I did copy the whole XP CD to the hard disc.

I have been using the same XP service pack files for updating all the XP operating systems without any problem. In fact I have then used the nLite and had the service pack slipstreamed successfully.

Are you saying that I have to run AutoStreamer on the same operating system for the job and in this case I have to use XP Home with SP3?

not quite right. to slipstream xp, you must be running xp, not vista, seven or anything else. the same thing applies to the integration process of service packs with vista (and with this one is a pain do fully do it)

Thanks! I shall try to remember it. It is a pain while I have to support multiple operating systems. Luckily I also have various systems around for use.

The RyanVM Integrator can be downloaded from here: http://siginetsoftwa...hread.php?t=601

In the Ryan Forum: http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/ you must navigate the various sub-forums to find all the update packs and addons - becoming a member may make it easier. B)
