I am able to get all the latest download but this version IE8-Windows6.0-KB2362765 for both x65 and x86 tells me quote "The update is not applicable to your computer". The windows update tells me the file size is 22K but the file autopatcher downloads is 184k. And even after using the windows update the autopatcher still indicates that the IE compatibility mode is still not updated? This has to be some bug in there in that it doesn't download the correct version or is missing something?

because the update has 184k. take a look in here or here

> "The update is not applicable to your computer".
probably due an broken download

wu has an know issue: it doesn't work in real time. sometimes, you reach old versions from there. other times, you apply the update manually and wu still shows that update as required. the solution for it us to be easy: control panel, system and security, windows update, check for updates

as for autopatcher, sometimes the detections only work after an reboot

So what will I do to fix that besides using the windows update? I like windows but I hate doing windows update I like to download the updates and update when I feel like and which one I like...that is my preference...so if the autopatcher programmers could resolve this IE8 compatibility install I would be happy to download and do my install independent of windows update itself. For now I will wait til the autopatcher programmer get a working download and just leave the compatibility mode til that time...but all the other files from standalone install did work that I downloaded by the way of autopatcher.

everything can be fixed, but sometimes we need a little bit more than "this update isn't working"

> IE8-Windows6.0-KB2362765
this update is for windows vista. are you running vista or seven? if you are running seven, then "The update is not applicable to your computer" will happen for sure. but so far, you didn't said the OS that you are running. checking the vista script, IE8-Windows6.0-KB2362765 is being downloaded. can you please state the OS that you are running and if at windows:\system32\CatRoot\{F750E6C3-38EE-11D1-85E5-00C04FC295EE} you have any file with KB2362765 in the name? i'm asking this because i don't run vista and extracting the content of that update, there's package_1_for_kb2362765~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~8.0.1.0 (that will become package_for_kb2362765~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~8.0.1.0 once installed) and package_for_kb2362765_ie8~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~8.0.1.0.cat and the expected detection is Package_for_KB2362765~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~8.0.1.0.cat. so, as an guess, the wrong detection is being taken. but once again, i don't run vista to be sure

thanks

Sorry about that. I have Windows 7x64 Ult and I checked that location you told me but didn't find KB2362765 there. I currently don't have vista as well and all my desktop and laptop are Windows 7x64 or 7x86 Ult only.

> I have Windows 7x64 Ult
that explain why IE8-Windows6.0-KB2362765 for both x65 and x86 tells that "The update is not applicable to your computer". the update for windows seven is IE8-Windows6.1-KB2362765. so, as an guess, you have downloaded the vista release, instead seven. but that doesn't explain why that the module for vista has loaded into seven. so please, select the seven script that this will fix your issue

thanks

Now that strange as I only check the win7 version x86 and x64 not vista?? but I did look and it says 6.0 not 6.1 but I tried it again and it keeps downloading 6.0 not 6.1 I think the script is bad or something isn't being directed to right location???

I had to search for it and found it and downloaded it but I do think something is wrong with autopatcher as it isn't locating the right file...

from seven x86 script:
Item=Windows6.1-KB2362765-x86.msu

DetectFile=autopatcher:\modules\NonCritical\KB2362765_seven_x86.apm_files\Windows6.1-KB2362765-x86.msu
DetectHash=A99AF0DD2E921DFAE2698CB32A20C823
DownloadFrom=http://download.microsoft.com/download/2/F/4/2F4BFB4C-7B8D-46A6-AD62-29DED0F1265B/Windows6.1-KB2362765-x86.msu
DownloadTo=autopatcher:\modules\NonCritical\KB2362765_seven_x86.apm_files\Windows6.1-KB2362765-x86.msu
ExpectedSize=185736
ExpectedHash=A99AF0DD2E921DFAE2698CB32A20C823

from seven x64 script:
Item=Windows6.1-KB2362765-x64.msu

DetectFile=autopatcher:\modules\NonCritical\KB2362765_seven_x64.apm_files\IE8-Windows6.0-KB2362765-x64.msu

DownloadTo=autopatcher:\modules\NonCritical\KB2362765_seven_x64.apm_files\IE8-Windows6.0-KB2362765-x64.msu
ExpectedSize=188941
ExpectedHash=83B622749084E689197DD3F56D345212

so, the x86 version of the script is right and the x64 version is downloading the update for vista x64. now that this issue is tracked, it can be fixed. i'm mailing domenico about that, since he is the release manager for seven x64 as well.

just in case that i loose the mail, the proper entry for the seven x64 script should be this:
Item=Windows6.1-KB2362765-x64.msu

DetectFile=autopatcher:\modules\NonCritical\KB2362765_seven_x64.apm_files\Windows6.1-KB2362765-x64.msu
DetectHash=20CA9BAE77C8AB9E38A0D4913BFCFCCC

DownloadTo=autopatcher:\modules\NonCritical\KB2362765_seven_x64.apm_files\Windows6.1-KB2362765-x64.msu
ExpectedSize=186737
ExpectedHash=20CA9BAE77C8AB9E38A0D4913BFCFCCC

in any case, this will be fixed soon

thanks
