Does AP create automatically a system restore point before applying patches?
If not: How can I tell him do create one?

No. AutoPatcher is really only a sophisticated GUI that chains multiple updates together so you can install them with only one reboot. APUP is not AutoPatcher and can be looked at as a download manager and release maintainer (adds and removes updates based on your selection of script) for the AutoPatcher releases.
You should manage system restore points using the OS, not AutoPatcher. Create the point before you update if you need one.
