Run-time error '0' when running Apup

Tekzel's Photo Tekzel 19 Dec 2007

The below is what I started typing in here, but where I stopped I thought about it and decided to map a drive to the location where apup.exe is running from and then running it from that drive letter, and it worked. So, apparently apup doesn't like running over a UNC path all of a sudden. But, at least it works, I am leaving this here in case someone else runs into the same problem.

Hi, this just started happening. It was working, today when trying to run the updater I get the error "Run-time error '0'" in a dialog, no interface or anything. I am running the latest version (dated 12/03/07, the 1.0.3 version or something to that effect). I have tried downloading the apup zip again and recopying that over my existing setup, but no change. I am running it off a network share via UNC path. I have run it on my machine...

Hi, maybe not quite the same, but nevertheless same error: "Run-time error "0".

When I did first execution of apup.exe, the file was in a folder on a external usb drive. The download/update seemed OK...

Now I have connected the USB drv to an ofline pc, and I get the runtime 0 error...

Any suggestions would be appreciated. <_<

You don't run apup.exe on offline computers, you run AutoPatcher.exe. APUP exists solely for downloading the components needed for AutoPatcher.

One cause of run-time error 0 is failure to connect to the server. I would congradulate you if you are able to connect to a server without being online :P As M2Ys4U said, just run autopatcher.exe on the offline PCs.

Hi, You've got that one right!!! ;)

Anyway, I figured out that my download was incomplete, and that the file autopatcher.exe was missing.

Ran apup.exe again (on a pc that was connected to the internet....) and VOILA!, I had more files! Now this made sense!

Now it worked on an off-line pc.... :)

Anyways, it seems one can download, including later updates to the "off-line Updater folder" enabling one to update whatever Win OS you encounter. COOL!

Thanks for the feedback.

And to the Autopatcher Team, Keep up the good struggle! ;)
