hi this is my first post, I have used patcher occasionally in the past, its been tought sometimes to get it going, what happens is problems when its disconnected...you have to start all over again.

But I got it working. So I have a question please....

I know MS sadly tried to block it, how dreadful, oneof the best update utilities and they try to stop it, what have they got to lose?

Anyway,

1/ is AP. still working properly after MS bullying attempt to stop it?

2/ how do I know what updates to use, ie, does AP update to ALL the updates that my system will need in view of 1/ above?

I am using xp SP3, and am just not sure if it will include every update?

3/ If not, how do I find out which ones I will need, ie the one from where I update from and the last one

what I am after really is to know if I automatically receive all updates requried, or if I have to manually augment?

thanks

Only the file being downloadd at that time - not everything.

Well, MS has that right, they really only wanted users to download the updates directly and not have AutoPatcher distribute the updates in a monthly rollup, this was why APUP was developed - the AutoPatcher Updater :)

AutoPatcher tries to match Windows Update as best as possible, you can visit WU and see if an update is missing, if it isn't in the release and can be added it usually will be.

Use MU or WU to scan your system after AutoPatcher has updated to see what is missing, you wont always need every update WU or MU lists. Also, AutoPatcher was designed for system builders or home users who have the need for a portable package of updates usually after you build or update a system. It was never really designed to replace Windows Update or Microsoft Update, rather one more option for a system that may not have internet access at that moment - this system can be fully patched before it hits the world wide web :)
