Unable to install in Widows 7

BillR's Photo BillR 28 Oct 2010

Good morning, I hope someone can help me. I am unable to install Autopatcher in Windows 7 64 bit.
I am able to get to the "Welcome to Autopatcher" page that displays the end user agreement.
I place a check mark in the "I agree to the terms of the above license" box, and then nothing happens,
there are no further buttons to click. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks and have a great day

I have downloaded the latest release of apup version 1.3.0.1.
On the "Select Releases to Download" page I have selected AutoPatcher Updater 1.3.0.1
AutoPatcher Engine 5.6.0.100 and AutoPatcher for Windows 7 (x64).
It then takes 1minute and 45 seconds to download the files, after the download has
finished it says that it has downloaded 100% of both files.
I then run the autopatcher application and that brings me to the "AutoPatcher end user license
agreement" page and click the "I agree to the terms of the above license" box and that is where
the program stops.

This is correct - you selected the files needed for APUP (AutoPatcher Updater 1.3.0.1) - AutoPatcher (AutoPatcher Engine 5.6.0.100) - and at least one module (AutoPatcher for Windows 7 (x64)) so AutoPatcher has something to load.

I bet you didn't get a complete release - sounds a little fast. Did you run APUP again (it is good to run APUP at least twice anyway to be sure everything downloaded correctly), selecting the same three boxes. This time start APUP by double-clicking the 'hit_this...cmd' file - this will run APUP with logging (apup.log), post the log file here using Spoiler code. Please don't post it as an attachment that we have to download and open?

"AutoPatcher end user license agreement" page and click the "I agree to the terms of the above license" box and that is where the program stops.
No Microsoft EULA - that is the next EULA (only two) then AutoPatcher should load if it has a module to load. Can you get a screenshot of AutoPatcher where it stops so we can see what you see?

I would re-run APUP first, you may get everything this time, if not, please post the log file and a screenshot if you would :)

The attached image is of AutoPatcher loading, this is past the two EULAs but AutoPatcher has no module to load so there's nothing more to do - it seems you have a different issue?

I ran APUP a second time and then launched it by running the "hit_this...cmd" prompt.
The application goes directly to the "end user page" and stops. I did a screen capture of the
end user page and I have the apup log file. I am afraid that I am not familiar with spoiler code,
could you tell me where I would find it and what it does?
Thanks

Let's first make sure we know that we are dealing with two different programs here...

APUP (apup.exe) is the program you run to download your release - this is the program that finished downloading in less than 2 minutes.

on the otherhand - and different all together...

is the issue with AutoPatcher (autopatcher.exe) - the program that won't get past the first EULA (I'm guessing).

Spoiler code works like this -> [ spoiler] log file here [/spoiler ] - you want to bring together the two outer brackets to create this
Spoiler
Also, read Here! to make sure you are doing things correctly. Please report back :)

Yes, I am aware that there are two different programs. When I double click the AutoPatcher.exe file
I am immediately taken to the EULA screen where at the bottom of the screen I click on the
agree box and nothing happens after that point, it acts like it is waiting for additional input.
Try as I may I am not able to send the requested files using spoiler. I don't want to tie you up
any longer. I know there is nothing more you can do without the log files.
Thanks very much for your help and have a great day.
Thank you

Try running Autopatcher with these two switches: /nolicense /noreboot it assumes you agree to everything and goes straight to the starting of the program. B)

True, we can't do much without a log file and a screenshot - let's try to move further and get this fixed.

Spoiler code is something you type, the forum software does the formatting. You need to do exactly as I showed you before...

(1) You start the formatting by the opening block, type this (not my arrow, just the word spoiler and the brackets enclosing the word) -> [ spoiler]
(2) Copy and Paste the complete contents of your APUP log file, any text editor can open the log, and paste it after the opening block...
(3) Close the block of code like this -> [ /spoiler] to create a nicely formatted window to display your log file.

Note: If you look closely at the leading brackets in front of both words spoiler - there is a space, I have to do this to be able to show you or I would create the Spoiler (which is what you want) - this...

it seems related to your screen resolution (widescreen monitor, perhaps?). also, it seems that you have enlarged the default font size. if so, then you don't have enough screen to see the "i agree" button. easy way to bypass that without change your resolution/view options: download and extract the attached file into your apup folder and then run it. the file will run autopatcher.exe with this argument: autopatcher.exe /nolicense with that argument, you don't need see any button
