Why is KB982666 not installed?

After running all Updates the previously checked security update KB982666 is not applied to Win7 Pro 64bit.
I tried it multiple times and rebooted.
Why is it not performed?
If it is not applicable: Why is it listed (and auto-checked) in the overview?

Just wondering why you never post all your questions up front, instead you post one after another, starting new threads, at times minutes apart...
You posted three times October 03, two of your questions came 4 minutes apart. On Nov 01, three times again, all three in less than 20 minutes. You know, there's nothing wrong with putting a number of questions in one post, lots of posters do it and it is easier than clicking all the threads you start.
Is Windows 7 reverting changes, are you getting errors, more information please. Windows 7 has a known problem that shows up on some, not all machines, the OS will not allow an update to install and it falls back to the state prior to attempting to install the update. It may be a simple module detection issue???
Search your system for the log file and read it using notepad, there may be a line in there saying - update does not apply. You never responded to your other post on how to determine if updates are installed - did you actually read the responses to your question - it helps to let responders know you're reading the posts, you don't have to agree but at least provide some feedback - basic forum etiquette.

KB982666 is for IIS. if this one isn't installed, then the update will fail to install. we are checking this issue, but is kinda tricky find someone that actually have IIS in order to test the module

I encountered a problem with KB982666 as well pstein, as discussed in this thread. There was a bit of conversation as to what exactly was happening. I had even tried manually installing it myself with the stand alone installer downloaded from Microsoft. The end result was that the release maintainer was made aware of the issue and was looking into a possible solution.
It wasn't as much of a concern to me, because the stand alone installer already came back with a message stating that KB982666 wasn't applicable to my computer. So, until a solution was found (and safe in the knowledge that the update didn't apply to me) .. I had 2 options. Either I could just ignore and uncheck that update when running AutoPatcher .. or, there is an option to right click on an update from AutoPatcher and select "never show this update". It probably(?) doesn't apply to you either, but you've done well in reporting any questions you've had regarding AutoPatcher.

IMO, if IIS is a prerequisite then I would add this to the module, seems pretty easy to test using a VM. I would be curious to know if MU is listing this update on the same systems that can't get it installed using AutoPatcher.

no, WU doesn't list this one for the systems that doesn't require it. that update was listed in a security bulletin, stating that this one was for seven, but just that. some time ago, i've realized that prereq. domenico said that was about to fix that, but i'm unsure if he already has succeeded

I see that Internet Information Service (IIS) was not automatically installed on my system with a standard windows install. I found it by looking under the listings for "Turn Windows features on or off". I thought about installing it now, but I don't have a need for it. I would assume that if it was installed WU would then download corresponding updates to the service. So yeah, Cristiano is right ... Microsoft update has not been offering me this update.

A couple of others that Apup lists under critical that relate to IIS, so not installed on my system, nor offered by Microsoft Update:

hum... those are present in the xp script as well. but at least under xp pro, those install. i will check if those are installed under xp home. if they are, then this issue may be created due something done in the xp install media

under xp home (untouched media) KB970483 and KB975254 are installed without any worries. as for kb982666, it requires the presence of the file C:\WINDOWS\System32\inetsrv\authsspi.dll. if i'm not mistaken, inetsrv is the folder related to IIS, but this one is empty under xp home

yep. and the problem is that under xp, the updates for it are applied as any other (i'm the only one that thinks that is weird update an thing that you don't have?). perhaps because that was assumed that the same update for seven should work as well

It can be installed even if not needed but if later IIS and FTP are installed it will need to be installed again.
Since I don't have IIS on my XP pro system, I have not installed any of the IIS related updates.
