On apup, e.g If i download xpsp3x86. If i restart apup, and check the same download again, does it auto detect that it has been downloaded and does not download? or it downloads it again?
Also, how do I check for updates?

I apologize if this has been asked before, Call me a noob if it makes you feel better.

These are common questions - no worries :)

If you interrupt APUP while downloading, upon restart you will only redownload the file in progress not everything already downloaded, assuming all the files downloaded passed hash, you are selecting the same script (XP SP3 x86), and you are running APUP from the same folder. APUP will run the script you selected, checking all the files it expects to find, verifying the hash and size, then it will resume downloading starting with the first file of the listed missing files - the apup.log file will list them.

You check for updates simply by running APUP again. APUP checks the releases.list file, it will download the script you select, if it is a new script it will make any needed changes to your \modules folder, deleting and downloading files accordingly. You will notice a date listed in the selections window, when this changes its time to run APUP to update your release. Also, checking the forums is a good idea.

A good rule of thumb is to run APUP at least twice every month - and don't miss a month.

Have a look Here! - this should help a bit.
