Problems after installation

ninja12's Photo ninja12 30 Nov 2010

Hi Guys, im new here and used AutoPatcher for XP for the first time the other day, i had a PC that i had a fresh install of XP SP2 and ran all the updates Auto Patcher could find and after i found a few small things wrong;

1. SP3 was not downloaded or installed
2. "My Computer" icon has renamed itself to the computer name
3. Login stopped and required me to click on my user account on login to access my desktop even though i only have 1 user area... Mine!

Any Ideas?

Thanks!

The service pack is a requirement for the XP SP3 release (for best results), it is not in the release. You can download it Here!

Make sure this installer applies to your system. This is an offline full install of service pack 3 for Windows XP. Read all the documentation before installation, select the language you need, don't have any firewalls or anti virus programs running when you update your system - the update process is straight forward. Btw, I'm only suggesting updating your system using this approach, you need to update (or not) what ever way you see fit :)

Also, did you apply a registry tweak to your system, if so, run AutoPatcher, uncheck everything, look through the Registry Tweaks section, if you have some you don't want in Blue - right click the Tweak and you should see 'remove' or 'undo' (I haven't any installed to check the wording), regardless - 'undo' or 'remove' or 'uninstall' the Tweak.
